That was fun to watch. Anyone know where those individual clear cases are from? Love his display, would love to get some of those cases.

If you are on Facebook, search for acrylic something or other on there. He sold me some like that but he mostly deals with like vintage moc Star Wars and gi joe. I'll see if I can find him

Do you know where i can see the videos? My initial question was just asking to see it -- I wasn't trying to start a debate. Not one person has responded with a link to the video. Can someone help? I sent you a message with it yesterday Sorry - I'm new here and didn't even know there were private messages. Thanks to you and Chicago for posting. I must admit -- it was painful as hell to watch.

I bought a MOC Evil Crush and opened it. I want a completely loose mint Crush and bought it to do that. It'd have cost more to buy loose ones until I found one I was happy with anyway.

My problem is I think taking them out of circulation for moc collectors is a factor. I normally subscribe to the Ryder theory and what Cat is saying about buying it carded to make sure I have one loose mint but I almost always buy beat up cards, or foreign cards with Hasbros but those prices have gone up lately due to that mentality.
It definitely depends on the situation but I’ve had figures from time-to-time show up in great condition and I’ve just left them on the card because I couldn’t do it. Then I usually get a second loose one knowing it doesn’t need to be quite as perfect with a moc version hanging on the wall. For me it’s a matter of value, too. There are plenty of mint loose collectors selling on eBay if you’re patient. Sellers with mint figures take 12 pictures because they have nothing to hide. So if you can sort nice pieces from the junk it’s considerably cheaper to just not waste money on carded figures if you’re going to open them.
I mean listen, you can buy a life-size statue of Barry Horowitz and put it in your front yard, because Murica, but it doesn’t mean you should. I think the truth is that this guy finds the attention on social media more valuable than the financial loss he’s taking on opening those figures. So this is two of the biggest problems with our society all wrapped into one toy example for me.

.... Wait! My life size Barry Horowitz statue in my front yard isn't 1/1? There's more? They sell them??
I won't be giving him a pat on the back as I go out to check the mail each morning, ever again.

why do people care? They are toys, they are for playing with. Open them and play, don't let them gather dust on a shelf. My hasbro figures are now mine and my kids and they play with them all the time, which guess what...is what TOYS are intended for.
I just bought my kids the hasbro winged eagle mint in box. Guess what we did, open it and they play with it. I wanted a mint boxed one so they could have the same enjoyment opening it to play with as I did when I was an 8 year old getting the belt at christmas and the same goes for hasbro figures. I get more enjoyment from their excitement ripping open the package to play with than it would gathering dust on a wall.
Kids (who TOYS are made for) don't care about what it will be worth in 30 years, they have the enjoyment of playing with the toy in the then and now

You are correct, the more that get opened, the more valuable the MOC ones become. My issue and I believe it's the same sentiment others have as well, is, there's so few to begin with.. they're already valuable and expensive MOC. The negligible increase in value doesn't even make it worth it, to basically destroy history. I understand the MOC collector's pain but that's the name of the game! If you want it MOC, best to get it as soon as you can. The thing is- none of this will last forever. There are floods, fires, disasters, people who want MINT LOOSE COLLECTIONS and the only way to guarantee original legit mint figures a lot of times is to get said figures MOC and open them. Aside from that- the passage of time is cruel. Things will go away no matter what we do. Nothin lasts forever folks, even us! This isn't a jab at MOC collectors. I collect some stuff MOC. But it's times like these we must remember these are 30 year old toys that were meant for children to play with that have long since grown up. They were never meant to be anything more. Some hardline collectors believe you buy as much as you can, when you can, and if you miss it- it's up to you to pony up the premium prices for things you want to add to the collection. Again no disrespect to my peoples out there who keep it packaged- but as time goes by if something is no longer being produced it's going to be more scarce regardless of people opening up packages or not. Get what you can as quick as you can, and protect that sheeet! That insane ramble aside... I don't know if I can possibly bring myself to watch the videos in question, lmao

^ I can't disagree with any of that. It's just hilarious to me that the subject alone leads to such long winded responses... Over and over again.
Not just yours, mine have been too. It's a touchy subject. Of course anyone can do as they wish with them, but..
"NO! DONT RUIN GREEN CARD HASBROS! NO! YOU FOOLS! STOP!"
I just wanna go shake people.

It's like saying eat all your veggies cause there are starving kids in africa. Piss on them. I'll throw these damn veggies out and I'll open a carded figure without batting an eye. Thank god for freedom.

People try and forget that to justify their collecting hobby. I don't want my kids playing with old toys which have been stored in a random garage or shed. I get mic and open them for them because they're fresh and new and clean

I guess you walk around museums asking the staff why things are behind the glass and not out being used.
