I check my local Kmart every few months. Honestly, I hate going in there. Mostly because I have a fear of being stabbed..... by their employees! lol My Kmart is in a bad area but it seems safe enough to go to during daylight hours for now. Still though when I went there to pick up a Retro Ring I was cursing Mattel the whole way cause it really felt like I was risking my neck just for the damn thing lol.

funny but I smh lil story , I lost my wallet one day , didn't have much in it, Sears gift card worth $25. Anyhow, I walked out to mailbox the next day as normal and found my wallet with license etc.. no GIFT CARD ! lol.. I guess I didn't mind too much since it would've been a bigger pain to replace my license .
I think I picked up 1 figure from there one day , after a points redeem . but never did it again. Sears always just felt like a appliance and car store to me. Which they got beat out as time went on by other stores.

No big loss. Expect more store closings as long as minimum wages keep going up. Minimum wage has a hell of a lot to do with the failure of bricks and mortar retail, its just far too expensive, add to that business rates, insurance etc, its no wonder online retailing will kill it off

My Sears just put out a toy department for Christmas in the tool department. Two year old Elites of just John Cena for $17.99 and a solo basic of Rusev's debut figure from 2014.

Wow, Kmart in the town I grew up in survives another round of closings. Surreal. I went there a few weeks ago to pick up a set of Series 6 retros and the store was fully stocked with toys, vibrant lighting and packed with people. A stark contrast to the one in the town I live near now in CT (which is closing), where it feels like I can probably get stabbed or robbed inside the store. Full aisles with lighting blown out, merchandise strewn about everywhere and employees who all look like they took a trip to the methadone clinic on their lunch breaks. Good riddance.

I used to shop at Sears, often, years ago. They had a big and tall section. I would get clothes there, and the craftsman line of products was second to none.
Then Sears decided to phase out big and tall clothes in favor of the brand "Lands End". I stopped going as often. If I did walk into Sears it was always because I parked my car near a Sears at a mall. So I'd just pass through, and if I needed a tool I'd pick up a craftsman tool. I wouldn't really shop for things though.
Then I got married. My wife hates Sears. She would tell me the clothes at Sears were Fugly as can be. She quickly made me frown on Sears. So I wouldn't even park around a Sears anymore. And then Kmart started selling Craftsman products. It's been years since I walked into a Sears.
It's sad to see then go but if it's like Kmart, they failed to keep up with the times so, I can see why they failed.

As a separate entity, Kmart declared bankruptcy in '02, came out on the other side, and purchased Sears in '04. The latter had more name equity than the former, so they merged beneath the Sears Holdings Corporation banner.

Haven't seen a Sears store in years. Used to have one an hour away in the nearest mall. Remember buying Jakks BCA figures there in the late 90s.

The Sears I used for store pickup has a E28 Bray Wyatt and a B38 Dolph Ziggler lol. Been gathering dust there for years. Saw a late teens Elite Orton one time a couple years ago, the last different fig I've seen there.

Dann that ringside shipping to the store is such a good idea. Wish I would be taken advantage of that while there were still k marts around me.

Haven’t made a purchase from KMart in years. I popped in one last year or so to find a $22 Apollo Crews and $28 Ric Flair but just kept it moving.

My Sears closed at the beginning of the year. It was in a dying mall so it was only a matter of time (anyone who goes in the PA findings thread will have heard me talk about the Hanover mall before) I hate seeing malls die, especially as a kid growing up in the 80's and 90's. I used to go every weekend with friends by bus and with my parents to play at their arcades (I remember playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, X-Men, The Simpsons, Final Fight, Double Dragon, NBA Jam, The Mortal Kombat series, The WWF games, the Capcom fighting games, I was there the day they brought Street Fighter 2 in in 1991) I remember KayBee, I remember buying Basketball cards there (Including 3 count em, 3 low numbered Jordan Autographs and a Lebron Autographed rookie). My favorite mall was a three story mall called Rolling Acres (it was awesome, I actually bought all of RA 1 there). Hell, during my teen years I got a lot of my Jordans there, at least one model of each from 12-22 (including the 2000 Retro Black and Red VI, my second pairs of each retro XI from 2000-2001, my second and third pairs of the black/ Cement Air Jordan 3 Retros from 2001, 3 pairs of Foamposites, and all my retro IX's and VII's from 2002 because I had a close friend that worked there and held them aside for me) It's completely torn down now after sitting derelict for years. I watch videos of derelict malls on Youtube (They have Rolling Acres on there). It's sad watching all the things from my childhood and youth die.

Wages are definitely not the issue dragging Sears down. Setting aside the fact that they'd been actively streamlining their floor staff years before the "Fight for Fifteen" and all that became remotely prevalent in an effort to compete with the e-commerce trend in an effort to migrate to a more automated way of shopping (which is, in of itself, batty, given that Sears' reputation had always been built upon a staff that possessed the expertise to guide you toward a sound purchasing decision), a large bulk of their employees are paid a (dreadfully noncompetitive) commission rate dependent upon their own closed sales. Each store might have one or two savvy enough employees to make it work for themselves, but by and large, their pay structure has been regarded for years as a cost cutting measure that been in play pretty much since the 2004 acquisition.

You are talking particularly about sears. I was meaning all retail stores in general. Rising minimum wage is an operational cost beyond the control of any business. The more people you employ the more you are at a disadvantage as long as they don’t directly impact sales. Online retail is surely the largest factor of why stores are losing, but how do you justify the fight to stay if your side is impacted more than the competition by this change. If I’m an operations manager than I realize I need to cut operational costs to stay afloat. In my state, minimum wage will rise from $11 to $15 per hour in the next five years. If I cut basically 1/3 of my staff than in 5 years I will be no more cost effective. I would have to suggest giving up or transferring my own company more towards automated online selling and just shut down shops and lay people off.

Used that feature all the time, that and the Shop Your Way points. Saved $42 altogether on a $75 purchase last night. Sure wish Walmart would break down and allow third-party retailers to ship orders there for pickup. Ringside is already featured on their site...

Not surprising to hear, Sears went bankrupt in Canada last year.

I went a K-Mart pretty far from my place just on Sunday and they had LOADS of figures, mainly the t-shirt series that came out exclusively to them a while back, and for $4 too. It was if they dumped em all over the aisle. The store itself was a mess, and there were tons of people running around with shopping carts stocking up on supplies as if the world were about to end.
