I was watching some WWE Network this weekend and randomly pulled up WWF World Tour 1991 to watch and to my surprise, there was a match on there between Randy Savage and Rick Martel that took place after his WM7 retirement match with Ultimate Warrior. The commentators mentioned that WM had taken place two days earlier and Savage was fulfilling a contractual obligation for this match before entering retirement. Savage was even escorted to the ring by Elizabeth. I NEVER knew that Savage made any post-WM7 appearances other than being a commentator and then doing some spots as "Mr. Madness in the fall of 91. This was a really cool surprise to me, especially watching a random Coliseum Home Video.

Was the match TAPED before Mania and aired after? If so, they already had it in the can and likely didn't want to just scrap it to never be seen.

I guess I cant be absolutely sure, but I would think they wouldn't put Savage, as the "Macho Man" and a face and with Elizabeth, in a match in front of a live crowd before Mania. Would have ruined Liz's big return and reunion with Savage at WM7.

The match with Martel was taped in Vegas right after WM 7. I remember them doing an on location PTW show during that time as well.

He faced Martel twice just after WM7 both in Vegas on March 26 (World Tour Match) and March 27 at their TV Tapings. He also faced Ted DiBiase on March 27 (same TV taping), Liz in his corner and Sherri in DiBiase's corner (not sure if this match has ever been released). He also had multiple matches during the spring and summer when the WWF did shows in Japan. He subbed for Hogan against Sgt. Slaughter a few times at house shows in July, as well as referred some of Hogan vs Slaughter house show matches. He even subbed for Warrior against the Undertaker in a few house matches just before SummerSlam 91.
