Cancer is not a joke. When watching it, I really thought it was real and I really felt bad for the guy. Watched it over again and Now i think it's a work. wwe has made some really tasteless storylines before like steph and Shane's incest, eddie's heart attack, or hawks alchol problem, etc. so I don't doubt they would make this a storyline. Wouldn't his condition show on his records before they even considered hiring him? Remember when Hannibal was about to work for wwe but then they found out he had hepatitis C so they cancelled the contract? Remember when Roman and Wyatt caught whatever was going on in the lockerroom and they disappeared for a few weeks? They didn't say anything about it. So Maybe this can be this generation's reaction to a storyline like when andy Koffman and jerry lawler had a feud. Wwe lost a lot of money trying to push Roman, so they gotta make all that money back. If this is a storyline, then they got what they wanted cause they were on every news source this morning. Wow. There's just so much here. The brakes were slammed on the incest angle before it ever made it to television. The angle surrounding Eddie's death was exploitative, but never implicit. The angle surrounding Haw's substance abuse issues ultimately led to The Road Warriors quitting the company. To suggest that Roman would be on board with this speaks presumptuous volumes about his personal character, none of which would be handily backed up with anecdotal evidence. There's no doubt that his medical records would reflect a previous diagnosis/treatment, but to be forthcoming with that information without his express permission would violate a good number of laws. Hep C is transferable from person to person. Leukemia, to the best of my understanding, is not. A viral illness making the locker room rounds is not only entirely likely, but is also a relatively minor incident that is easily managed in a pinch, which is exactly what was done. People get sick. Vince may not like it, but it happens. Any Kaufman and Jerry Lawler weren't exactly making a play of having been stricken with a potentially terminal illness. They pretended to fight. The money might be my favorite aspect here. I'd love to see the financials showing a net loss relative to the promotion of Roman Reigns, who's consistently been at least a top ten, if not top five merchandise source for them for a good two years running now. But yes - let's do continue dredging through baseless conjecture and circumstantial evidence to try and promote the idea that, rather than a man, husband, and father staring down his own mortality, all of this is for the sake of entertainment. "Cancer is not a joke", but you sure bent a lot into shape here trying to make it into one. Total work.

Can we get back to the subject at hand? I have a question as I've seen tweets about this and wanted this community's opinion: When Roman comes back, will you boo his character? A lot of people say no and that it'd be disrespectful. I say, his character and the man behind the character are two separate entities. I'm a big fan of Hugh Jackman, but that doesn't mean I was rooting for him in Chappie. You can not be a fan of the character and respect the person portraying it. You also can hate the man but like the character (which is how some people justify wanting a certain Canadian in the HOF). Flair survived a plane crash, and people still hated him. Bagwell survived a horrifying neck injury, and people still found ways to boo him. It's great to pay respect to him, but if his character doesn't sit well with you, I don't think it's an issue to boo him. Yes, the subject can now continue since the dipstick has been Lucille'd. Carry on my wayward sons.

Can’t help but think this topic is only 5 pages long because people have chosen to take the “nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all” route. Like, shouldn’t this be a HUGE thing?
The one guy is making a joke of it, but there are probably countless people who have taken the high road by not saying anything so we should commend them I guess.
Had Hogan, Austin, Rock ever had stepped down with a outa the blue life threatening illness, even Cena, I can’t help but think this thread would be MASSIVE
I get the feeling a lot of people here can’t, won’t come out and say they are happy he’s sick, but theyre happy he’s off tv.

When you’re older, you’ll look back at the time when you posted stuff like this online and you’ll be really embarrassed to think of it.

They're out there. They just prefer Twitter. Haha oh ok, I don’t even bother with twitter. What a toxic waste of time, like why people even have one is beyond my understanding. “Let’s see why everybody hates me today!” It’s like survival mode, let’s see how long people can like me before I do something wrong or they find out about what I’ve done wrong already. Truth be told, i wasn’t a fan of Roman either, but I was more irritated by the way WWE pushed him, I hated WWE more then him haha, he was just doing the best he could. But even I can’t sit here and say, I’m glad he’s sick, that’s ridiculous. I feel sorry for him. The character and the person are different things, people are desensitized these days, nothing bothers them. It’s just a blanket conclusion that “he’s off tv” so I’m happy”.

Toughest ones to watch for me were Heyman and Braun. Heyman just seems like he genuinely loves the guy. Yeah, same here.

I should have known better than to expect people to be mature and respectful in this thread. I know it's a site for toys, but please grow up.

I initially choose this route. I’m not a big Roman fan in terms of his character, although I think the world of him as a man and father and athlete. I would love a heel Roman. I said some prayers for him because as a father, his kids need him more than any of his fans. I would gladly pop for him when he comes back and be excited, then once he settles back in I’ll treat him like the professional he has always been and give or take my support based on his story and character.

Still pretty shocked by this.
This is going to sound morbid, but around this time 2 years ago I actually remember having a dream where I read that Roman Reigns died. It felt horrible, I remember in the dream going on his Wikipedia page and it saying Roman Reigns was an American professional wrestler, past tense, along with his date of birth and death and I just couldn't believe it. Now he's actually going to be fighting for his life for real and it's pretty damn scary to think about. I really hope he's gonna be alright, because I just can't imagine the alternative.
On the flipside, it's really warmed my heart to see the entire wrestling community band together and support him. The ovation he received on Raw after entering the arena to boos, all of the comments on social media, no smart ass comments under Vince's tweets. Wrestling fans are some of the most dysfunctional, argumentative people in the world, but we always come together during times like these and it's really nice to see. It's times like these that bring us together like the family we really are.

It's also times like these, despite the unfortunate circumstances, that really make you proud to be a wrestling fan and appreciate the amazing talent we have gracing our screens week in week out. It makes you realise how something or someone we often take for granted can be taken away when we all least expect it.

Some people have said they’re surprised that he’s getting so much support. Like, really, that should be surprising? I’ve seen so much negative, nasty, subhuman type of comments towards the situation like it’s a work, or it’s Vince’s last attempt to get Roman over. That’s disgusting. Whoever claims that should be ashamed of themselves. I’m quite sad to see the comments already made on this thread, and I’m surprised the Mods are allowing it. At the end of the day, wrestling is so irrelevant when it comes to this situation. A man, a father, a husband was diagnosed with a life threatening disease, who seems like a pretty decent human being in real life, and that should hit home with many of us because we more than likely know someone with this disease. So yeah, the old saying goes, if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. F*ck that sh*t

Definitely. I think he has 2 daughters who are really young and when a person has cancer, his or her family suffers as well.
