So I haven't been to a movie theater since 2010. But a movie is coming out that I'm willing to break my dry spell for. But everywhere I look it says no showtimes available. It's supposed to come out November 2nd, so am I looking to early for tickets? How far out in advance to they typically let people buy tickets these days?

I’m a huge Orson Welles fan, and this is too special to just watch on Netflix.

You've missed out on some incredible cinema going experiences during your 8 year dry spell. Alternatively, The Other Side of the Wind will be available on Netflix.

There have been a few movies that I've watched at home that I've thought "Man that would have been great on the big screen" but it's been very few since 2010. Probably not more than 5 though. I used to go all the time, I loved seeing movies but I was impacted by the Aurora shooting. So I had this fear I guess. I've talked myself out of going to movies after that which I had never done before.

It might be getting a limited release. So maybe there isn’t a theater near you that will be showing it if you’re not seeing times?
I’m definitely going to check it out on Netflix.
That aside, I hope you can get back to the movies and just enjoy your experience.

what was the last film you saw? The short answer: Inception in terms of new released film, Vertigo for a special viewing The long answer with plenty of personal story/detail: Towards the end of 2010 I was promoted from a store level manager to a corporate buyer role. Because of this I had to travel for a lot of my job. I was rarely home. So in 2011 with the combination of my travel schedule and being on the road so much and the lack of movies that were coming out in 2011 by Directors I liked, I just somehow managed to not see any movies in theaters in 2011. I know this because I have kept notebooks since I was a teenager of all the movies I've seen. At the beginning of 2012 I got this feeling that my job was in jeopardy. Now the company I worked for was very infamous around the office of not firing people but "eliminating there job". Around February of 2012, after getting a tip from someone that my job was about to be eliminated, I asked my boss if I could step back down to a managerial role in a store. They were thrilled to hear this because they didn't have to have the talk with me. So they told me three different states that had stores that needed managers. I picked Colorado off that list. So I moved to out there and it took a while for me to open up and have friends out there. But eventually I did make friends with a lot of people. A group of us were going to see The Dark Knight Rises. I like Nolan a lot and these guys I think maybe two of them liked him as a director but I think they were more comic book fans. Anyways we had made plans to go and the closest theater to where we lived in Aurora was the Century 16. Well we ended up not going that night. And there is a chance that we would have wound up going to a different theater, who knows. But I worked with people that were there and I worked with people who had family members that were there. It was just really tough to go through and to see them go through that wishing there was something you could do besides give them a shoulder to cry on. After that I just couldn't go.
