So I get to find out about this guy through AlphaDestiny's garbage youtube channel. Eric Bugenhagen was signed to the Performance Center but then got injured. He is going to go back to the Performance Center when he recovers. Bugenhagen certainly has the look, charisma (which is rare) and athletic credentials. If he doesn't get injured again and everything works out smoothly I think he could be a major player in WWE. Here is a clip featuring him (he's the first guy):
He also has a youtube channel:

There is no difference between speculating on whether an athlete or indy wrestler will do well in WWE.

With a name like that? No way. Absolutely not.
But if he was Francis Bugenhagen, maybe.

No. He looks like a dude who would show up on NXT and Kassius Ohno would squash in 1 minute.
Also screaming and acting like a jackass doesn’t mean you have charisma.

There is no difference between speculating on whether an athlete or indy wrestler will do well in WWE. There is a pretty significant difference. An independent wrestler would have a body of work, likely years of it, to judge how transferable his or her ability would be to NXT/WWE. There is at least a little bit of that with athletes from other sports. Especially depending on the sport they are crossing over from. Is it MMA like Riddle/Ronda/Shayna, amateur wrestling like Brock/Ziggler/Gable, or football like Mojo/Titus/Reigns? This is just some dude in the gym.

Honestly, anyone can be a big star in the WWE. They can push whoever they want. Hence why we get flash over substance 95% of the time.

He's apparently a really big WWE fan, he wrestled for Wisconsin and was also a strength and conditioning coach. All things I found in the Google machine that would have been great to open the conversation. These are all good signs, though. I now understand where you're coming from. Hopefully he progresses quickly. I may have to go to one of the local NXT shows here in the next couple of moths and see if he's working full matches yet. Now I'm curious.

Rick Bugez is his wrestler name. He tore his ACL 10 months ago and I don't know if he is cleared to compete yet. He has been working on his wrestler character though and I like it a lot. In this video he says he's the future of WWE. 4:08

I forgot Mustache Guy was even still employed.
He’s alright. Nowhere near a star.
