Oh do give an example or 2 Well you said both HOC & FB were both cancelled yet Bill has confirmed neither are cancelled they're just doing something different for 2019. Im assuming much like the DM/EG swap. I mean...you wanted an example. Doing something different? So they arent making any further series?

The problem with this argument on a message board is that it does not and should not be a bloodbath of modern vs. classic characters. There are a lot of people that want figures of the current product. Great! There are also a lot of people that want figures of classic wrestlers. Great! (Every time people state as a fact that there aren't many legends collectors, it's a blanket statement with no clear proof. The Jakks Classic line was the lifeblood of the entire Jakks WWE line, and a lot of WWE Flashbacks go for the highest prices on eBay, etc. There's a lot of passionate legends collectors. Sid rots shelves, Randy Orton had the worst peg-warmer of all-time in Elite 12. It happens to both sides.) Modern collectors are going to get their figs in the traditional basic/elite lines -- always! And that's cool! Us collectors who focus on legend figs have reason to be frustrated because Mattel's strategy since the beginning of making legends/flashback figs (remember some of those Legends 1 decisions?!) has been flawed and it's resulted in a ton of sub-lines that come and go. We're not asking for only legends figs. Way more modern figs will be made, we get it! We just want a piece of the pie, and there's no reason we shouldn't get some legends figs on a more consistent basis ALONG with all the modern figs coming out. It's not an either/or proposition. But I almost never hear current roster collectors or nxt only collectors or women only collectors crying like kids because they don't get their way. Flashback people do it all the time. Not all of them obviously, but the ones that do, it's constant. These threads pop up a couple times a month.

•"Second class citizen" is too dramatic. From what I remember, that's a term that applies to discrimination involving politics, like the Nazis discriminating against the Jews. Way too strong a word. In no way would I ever liken how Mattel treats flashback collectors to how the nazis treated the Jews. You said that. And you are ridiculous and ignorant for that. A second class citizen is a social group with less rights and recognition. I’m not meaning for that term to suggest oppression or discrimination. That’s obsurd. Lock this thread

Not all of them obviously, but the ones that do, it's constant. These threads pop up a couple times a month. It happens on both sides. There were SDCC's from years ago where all the modern collectors got mad because flashback spots were taking up regular elite spots and they weren't going to get mid-to-lower card guys any more in the elite line (and I totally felt for them and agreed with their point!) Now it's the other end of the spectrum. Modern collectors are ALWAYS going to get some consistent stream of figs because of the nature of the regular elite/basic lines, us legends-focused collectors don't have that with lines coming and going so we're going to be a bit more concerned. It all makes sense. Again, trying to play the mediator here -- it's totally cool that a lot of people want all the modern guys/girls. This isn't an either/or situation, or shouldn't be one. I primarily focus on legends but I still get one of each modern character. I hear both sides. I just think it's fair for legends collectors to be a bit annoyed by all that's gone on. After the Legends line debacle, we waited and waited for a new line ... then we got the HOC and the Flashback series at Walmart ... they sell like crazy and now they're gone. I'm not saying each Elite series should have 5 flashbacks and one modern character. Just hoping we can get a more consistent legends thing to GO ALONG with all the modern figs that will always be coming out.

Could be a simple name change like how it went from Then, Now & Forever to Flashbacks or Hall of Fame to Hall of Champions...But Bill flat out said they werent cancelled and they were doing something different. I feel like they're doing the same lines just swapping up names to keep things "fresh" and to throw off retailers from not wanting to order things. The Hogan/Tito fiasco might have turned Target off on ordering more HOF figures but by switching it to HOC, you get a new name plus you can add different names to it. Its all a marketing ploy.

I'm at the point if you ain't Seth rollins or that rare must have figure, I don't want it. But to me that figure could be MitB Mella, Hollywood Hogan, Dink the clown or Kairi Sane. I do like both the new and old. My beef is people actually pretending they don't know that the flashbacks are not the priority BECAUSE the older collectors aren't the priority. It's just dumb, ya know? They're toys, in the toy aisle, at a reasonable price for toys (it's not 1975 anymore, 20 bucks isn't crazy), and they put out barbies and zombies and breakable cars and yet people still pretend that they aren't kids toys.

I hear ya. Like I said if anyone sees it I'm trying to steer the debate away from just modern vs. legends yelling. There should be enough room for all! I'm dying for a Kairi figure. I just also think it's not out of line to hope for something like the Walmart Flashback series sticking around and us getting 4 waves of 4 legends figs a year or something like that. That's why it's such a bummer that the HOC and Flashback series are suddenly gone for now. Modern collectors can get their fix always with the regular elite lines always and for them I want that to continue too!

I'm discouraged too, can't blame Mattel too much, but I'll probably buy some BF deals and hibernate until March, the figures aren't hitting at retail, like NXT Elite 2 to 3 was a 2 to 3 month wait, now 3 to 4 is almost a year now, like I've just stopped looking forward to things, especially since a bunch of the more ambitious stuff has been canned or forced into online retailers only, or a hostage situation like the Target Red Rooster, like who cares, I'll just catch up later, we don't have the 3rd Zombie series yet locally.

Can we just get the "elite" style women back in the basic line since we're highly unlikely to get a Mandy Rose or Billie Kay Elite figure after their basic releases?

I have always wondered why people are so aggressive against people who like flashbacks or any figure for that matter. This is a place where we may learn there is a lot of us that do like it legends/flashbacks and clearly there is a lot of us. I have never seen anyone deny the importance of 5,000 Cena's or Roman's to keep the kids market happy ... but if someone created a thread about the new twelve inch figures that every company Marvel, DC etc is doing right now ... I would just skip the thread and wish those collectors luck that they get what they want and not lecture to them how much those figures suck and why Mattel will not make a massive amount of those. That is for Mattel and the collectors who buy that to decide. Just let the people wish for Billy Superstar Graham, and Greg Valentine, etc ... because they will be bought.

You know why there are so many reboots in Hollywood? Because the kids who once saw the original Halloween are now adults with kids who take them to see the new Halloween. The same can be true with parents who buy wrestling figures for their kids. The costumes and characters were brighter, bigger and more character driven back in the 80's and 90's. Think about it you had Russian's, A police officer, a prisoner, a barbarian, a Viking, a surfer guy, an evil German, an Iranian, an army man, a playboy robe wearin' champion, An Elvis wannabe, and today it's usually a guy in black shorts or long pants. The diversity of the line keeps it strong and fresh! The naysayers have already lost ... because as mentioned they keep making them.

TLDR; Looked it up. Confirmed, "second class citizen" is an overly dramatic term. Mattel isn't actively harassing Flashback fans or neglecting and violating their human rights for political reasons.
Now everyone go back to talking about little naked plastic men.

Because the Big Boss Man is gonna sell more than Greg Valentine & Hercules /thread Too bad we can’t actually make that comparison. We don’t have to. Boss Man would obviously sell more

I do agree that Big Bossman would sell more than Hercules or Greg Valentine, but considering the TRU Network Bossman was a shelfwarmer, Id hate to see how bad those 2 would rot.
