1999 wasn't as bad as 1995. Ugh, how I remained a fan after THAT time still is a mystery to me.

"we gonna pay our dues like it's 19..99!"
No offense but i think wrestling has always been mediocre, that's what makes it Sports ENT!
I will defend it to the end though!

Oddly enough I still found it entertaining lol

I didn't mean to attack 1999 as if it were the worst year in the history of the company or anything. It was fun.
My point was just that it usually gets an immediate thumbs up from fans who lived through it because it reminds them of the glory days of the Attitude Era. I'll even throw myself into that crowd. However, when you take it under a microscope you are able to see its flaws and shortcomings despite how wildly popular the product was back then.

The corporate ministry and the higher power angle let down still make me sad

Why is it the cool thing to hate on the Attitude Era these days?
Wrestling back then was so much fun and it was the THE pop culture. Back then the WWE was effortlessly cool, these days they try way too hard to be hip, modern and main stream. These days watching a full episode of RAW is a chore, back in 1999 you were genuinely excited for wrestling each week and you never knew what the hell was going to happen.
Say what you want about the Attitude Era, but for me watching wrestling in 1999 was a hell of a lot more fun than it is now. The wrestlers actually had personality, the whole damn product did.
I would take any episode of RAW from 1999 over one from 2018 any day.

Not the worst year of Wrestling, but it is real bad. And that could all be pinned down to D'Lo Brown not getting a main event push after Summerslam.

it was a rough year undoubtedly. people going from face to heel and it seemed everyone was teamed with McMahon outside of Austin at some point or another. but the chaos was a big part of the fun. the rock/Austin feud was a big highlight.

I feel like 1999 was a lot of fun to watch in the moment, but a lot of it doesn't age well, and it doesn't have much value in repeat viewings the way some things do. I'd be remiss to try and pretend that I didn't love the hell out of it as it happened, though.

The Rumble that year was atrocious. I'd take the 95 Rumble any day over that mess.

Much like any era of the WWF there was a lot of good, but also a lot of crap.1999 unfortunately had quite a bit of it: Vince winning the 1999 Royal Rumble Big Show losing to Austin on Raw Big Boss Man getting lynched Big Show's constant back and forth Face/Heel switches Kennel From Hell Vince McMahon wins the WWF Championship Test and Stephanie's courtship Vince's faction "The Union" Vince revealed as "The Higher Power" Big Show goes Coffin-Surfing British Bulldog's weird "Non-Push Push" Rock destroys Billy Gunn's singles push "Beaver Cleavage" ...it just felt sometimes like things were way overbooked rather than flowing somewhat naturally. some of this stuff just felt forced. The Corporate Ministry being one. Watch WrestleMania XV. EVERY match was overbooked.
