I was thinking of customizing some Mattel figures by putting Jakks figure heads on them to create wrestlers that Mattel probably will never make (like Ultimo Dragon, Tyson Tomko, Val Venis, etc.). It seems like most Jakks heads may be too big for Mattel bodies. Anyone have any success with this procedure? What heads work and which don't? Any pics? I'm just interested in making wrestlers that Mattel has and probably will not make. Thank you

Not many work, Jakks we're more cartoony and the heads we often on the bigger side even on the RA bodies, You're better off looking into the older TTL figures, or R3's they were more mattel size, but some of the head scans or sculpts were pretty poor, and of course finding them can be hard too, theres a gingery ABA Undertaker I've been hunting for a long time and havent had any luck.

Most are too big but there are some that could work with the only issue being skin tone really.
Though the biggest problem i've seen is every time i take a Jakks head off, the peg comes out with it and is stuck in the head, making it incredibly hard to get out.

Use a blow dry to heat up the head first, then the peg will stay in the body, and the head will come off on its own.

Jakks deluxe heads are too big!! TTL are really good, some may need exacto knife fix on the neck

Don't know what the issue with the Jakks construction is, but you can boil some water and dunk only the head so it softens up, then pop it off.
Or a hairdryer with a narrow tip attachment.
Never heard of a hairdryer damaging a figure, never done it myself either. But if it's too hot or something, use the lower setting.
Don't use heat guns though, those are way too hot.

The more recent the Jakks figure, the bigger the head size. The three you mentioned seem fine though. Finally done my custom Tomko, as a huge Christian fan i had to make the Problem Solver! Tomko, gimme a beat!
Elite Val Venis Used Steve Austin with Christian lower legs and boots

Thanks guys for all the info and the cool pics. I have begun my process by buying some cheap Jakks figures off Ebay for future head fodder (La Resistance, Lance Storm, Credible, Tomko, Ultimo Dragon, Mr. Kennedy & Basham Bros). I have have my sights on figures like London, Kidman, Nunzio, Venis, Matt Morgan, etc.). Those heads look to be a usable size.
