I am a fan of women’s wrestling almost exclusively, and after watching Evolution two things were evident: there is more than enough talent in the company to put on all women’s shows, and there are plenty of women who are, at this point, no more than long term jobbers who never have any chance of winning a belt or becoming bigger stars than they already are(n’t). At a time when there are dozens upon dozens of up and coming talents in NXT and on the UK brand, there is no excuse for the amount of dead weight on the main roster.
Dana Brooke: has failed at being entertaining in any role, is absolutely awful in the ring and has been on the main roster for two and a half years. Cut her loose.
Alicia Fox: is constantly relegated to the role of third wheel in heel factions, and her inclusion is never organic and never makes sense. She is underrated in the ring, but most people have the idea that she is awful, so that really isn’t saying much. If you can’t make someone a star in 10 years, it’s time to cut them loose.
Natalya: this is probably my most controversial pick, because she is competent in the ring, but her acting is atrocious and she has had so many nonsensical heel/face turns that she’s basically the female Big Show. I think she should be taken off of TV and given a position as a trainer at the Performance Center. She isn’t useless, but at this point I have absolutely no interest in watching her on Raw or Smackdown.
Lana: I get that at one point she was extremely popular, but she has no business in a wrestling ring. I rolled my eyes so hard at her inclusion in the women’s MITB this year, and the Mixed Match Challenge is nothing but a bunch of meaningless buffoonery they give away for free on Facebook. She is fine as a valet, so let her do that exclusively. It’s bad enough we have to sit through Brie Bella matches because she is such a valued employee. I have no patience for watching talents develop on TV.
Billie Kay: I enjoyed Billie and Peyton together in NXT, but since coming up to the main roster they have done nothing, are irritating as hell, and Billie is definitely the worse of the two. Peyton has much more of an upside IMO, but this partnership will doom them both if it isn’t ended soon. This gimmick needs to be abandoned and Peyton repackaged as something other than a schoolyard bully who never actually wins anything. Right now they are jokes, bad jokes. Jillian Hall comes to mind.
Tamina: she is almost 40, is visually boring, boring in the ring, awful on the mic and her time should have been up a long time ago. Mercedes Martinez could fill her role and do a much better job of it. It’s time to retire her.
Nia Jax: I have almost exactly the same criticisms of Nia as I do Tamina, both being larger women who work mostly the same style and are super boring, but Nia’s role as fat shaming victim and her nonsensical heel/face turns makes her even more intolerable than Tamina at this point. They are both supposed to be monsters but lose more often than not. That’s not all her fault, but she has been sufficiently ruined.
Sonya Deville: at a time when there is a massive influx of legitimate MMA fighters in WWE, it makes no sense for someone to have that as only a gimmick. She isn’t a real fighter. Shayna Baszler, dog faced as she might be, is a much better fit for her role. I couldn’t be happier that she and Mandy are breaking up soon, if they haven’t already, because Mandy was always the one to watch. Being stuck in a tag team with a fake MMA fighter was the drizzling s***s for her.
I can’t believe I’m not saying Sarah Logan, because I have been enjoying The Riott Squad lately.
Who would you cut?
