It's a sad day. Stan Lee deserves all the credit he gets and more for revolutionizing comic books in the 60s with his work for Marvel Comics.

A word like icon seems to get thrown around too much, but the man is one of the true Americana icons. He put a huge stamp on the world with the characters he created, and helped create. It's good too, with his cameos in the MCU movies, that younger fans got to know who he was. And while it's sad to loose him, you have to look at the silver lining, that he had a long life, and was able to entertaining millions of people over many generations.
RIP Stan The Man

I've feared this day for many years. Truly a legend who has changed many people's lives. Once he lost his wife, I had a bad feeling within the year we would loose him.

” I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: Entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people, you’re doing a good thing.”

So unless he had something filmed for the next Infinity War, the Spider-Man game would be his last cameo, right? Would be a fitting final one, with Spider-Man being his favorite.

This really sucks. RIP Stan. Thank you for bringing me joy since my childhood with the characters you created. Love you forever. Excelsior! I bet he's up there right now having a drink with King Jack and Steve Ditko. Make Mine Marvel Stan.
