Wonder if they're going with the story "Dunne don't play well with others"? The look on his face when Hanson prevented him from leaving the cage kinda implied it.

Watching this match, part of me wishes that WWE buys IMPACT just for that lockdown match.

It's the little things like that stare-down that make me love wrestling.
War Games itself was amazing. Everyone brought their A game.
The show started slow with the 4 second match and the so-so Woman's match. But the last 3 matches delivered more than enough to make up for it.

I assume you only watch WWE. NJPW and ROH has had just as good if not better shows multiple times this last year. ROH is doodoo Doubt you’ve been watching it. Consistent flow of great matches.

black/gargano was damn near perfect. war games was pure carnage, the big fella hanson was all over the place. ciampa/dream started slow, but the last 10 minutes or so were tremendous. sane/baszler was good, but felt rushed, and the interference knocked it down a bit for me.
black/gargano - 5 stars (im sure in a rewatch it might come down a bit, but in the moment i was just as enthralled as i was with gargano/almas) war games - 4 stars ciampa/dream - 3.75 sane/baszler - 3.25
takeover delivers once again.

Doubt you’ve been watching it. Consistent flow of great matches. Yeah, The Kingdom and Jay Lethal are really fantastic. Nah ROH just overrelies on Bullet Club and their NJPW ties.

Loved the main event. Just absolutely phenomenal stuff. I love that War Games is back and this one had a ton of storytelling, callbacks, and it seemed like everyone was a little more comfortable out there than last year. I'm never really going to understand the logic of having the tossed together team go over the brotherhood of a four man unit, but the end finish was kind of irrelevant to my overall enjoyment of the match because I was so entertained by the whole deal. Dunne being locked in the cage could have been super hokey and it wasn't and I loved the way they let UE run roughshod, just to have the tide turn and then they did a stand off and the table spots were so good, and man it just largely all worked for me. My one nitpicky thing was them doing the cage panel giant suplex and then immediately grouping up for the Ricochet spot. Probably would have just stuck to one or the other for suspension of disbelief purposes but regardless. Just a great match that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I really liked the Dream headband/title stuff with Ciampa, and him just overall doing the Hogan stuff. The mind games are what make him special. It's the 1996 Goldust in him. That's the stuff that makes him more than just a visually fun character.
Don't think there is much else to say about Gargano's character other than it's out of this world. Like I was actively cheering for him to lose. Not because I care about Black winning but because I want more of this falling down the rabbit hole from Gargano. That knee though... whew.

Kev, I usually fall asleep during the WWE PPVs, but I was wide awake for the NXT Takeover show. Can I get 5 stars for that?? haha

Another great takeover with possibly two Top Ten matches of the year in terms of the WWE with Black/Gargano & Ciampa/Dream.I really feel that Velveteen Dream could be a true break out star and cross over star the likes of which the WWE hasn't really seen since Cena & Batista. He has all of the tools at just 23 and as long as he keeps his head on straight and does get any real long term or serious injuries the WWE should strap the rocket to his back and let him run with the ball.

Everytime I see Black, it just makes me want that damn figure even more - although, annoyingly, he's got some new ink, now.

OMG NXT Takovers NEVER disappoints! Some of the best matches I've seen in years! It's a shame these guys aren't making the same salary as the main roster I'd assume.
Velveteen Dream is the freakin future! He's Dusty, Flair, Savage, Rude, Hogan and Goldust in one awesome package!r
