I was always under the impression that the prototypes were moulded and painted in the states. So how did these two end up in a factory in China? Who knows though.

I'm not sure what to make of it but I can confirm that they are NOT resin. A few of my friends requested pictures of the bottom of the boots which the seller has now added. If they were indeed resin, the boots would NOT have holes which they do. Also, a resin cannot have a copyright marking on a back, since a paint master wouldn't have one, Lex Luger does. Also, I am aware of Doink the Clown not having the markings on the back....however, is it possible that this seller repainted a regular Red Card series Luger and repainted a legit Test Shot Prototype of Doink? Reason I ask is because look at the coloring around the holes on the new picture he added. That is the exact color the boots are on the actual test shot. Makes you wonder... Well, that settles it then; custom painted figures... We dont know if these are real or not. There hasn't been any definitive answer. JS

If the person that wins the Lex Luger is a member here and has buyers remorse after receiving it, I'll take that burden off your hands for free. Or if you win Lex Luger and you have that dilemma of "Oh man now that I have this really cool Lex Luger, I don't need my red card Lex Luger", I'll take that red card off your hands for free as well. Hey just looking out for the community and my Lex Luger collection.

Random question because I don't really know about these things, but why wouldn't they just re-paint one of the actual figures, rather than going through the effort of creating casts for them and waiting for them to set etc? If these were created solely to help visualise what the final product would look like, surely re-painting an actual plastic figure would give a more accurate representation? Genuine question....I haven't got a clue lol

I would be absolutely baffled if they really did not have access to the retail figures, especially as these had already been through the artworking/planning stage before they got to the point of painting onto the figures? It's not like they were just sitting around the office on a random Tuesday and decided to create re-paints of the figures.... there would have been ample time to acquire them if they did not have them available in abundance already? Even if it was a last-minute decision, it would have been quicker to walk to the store and buy some than it would be to wait 3 days for the resin to set lol Who knows, but thanks for the response Ruby!

Holy crap...Luger went for $8100. I can say that I NEVER expected that. WOW. What a price.

I was expecting it SHOULD command around that price range (or more). Considering it was essentially 100% unknown to even exist until just now, and the price of other crazy prototypes, why not?
Assuming all the bids are real, I'm more surprised Doink went for so much less!

Assuming all the bids are real, I'm more surprised Doink went for so much less! Agreed. After Luger sold first, I assumed Doink would get around the same price. If you look at the bid history, the winner of the Luger was outbid on the Doink auction.

Two different winners as well, though they were both the top two bidders in each auction - the Doink winner was outbid on Luger by $100, and the Luger winner was outbid on Doink by $50. Which one was Zack?

I'm amazed: 1. They didn't go for over $10,000, and 2. There was such a difference in the Luger and Doink price. Man, I wish I had that kind coin, would've loved that Luger in my collection.
Hope you got one of 'em, VintageFigs.

Which one was Zack? Personally I don’t care who wins these auctions. However I always appreciate the fact that ZR is sharing all of his items with the community. So if he is the high bidder on one of these, great and all power to him.

That's also assuming whomever won actually pays that price. It is mind-boggling to me that someone would pay this much for something that hasn't been authenticated and that they've never even seen in person...

So, last night I had a little exchange with Ryder (or his podcast account) and I thought I brought up some pretty valid concerns because I kind of think this entire thing is...insane. I mean, I was initially excited. Then feelings changed. Felt like an overseas scam like when you buy a 1970 Super Bee or something and use a third party bank lol. I just felt it was convenient that the only two Series 12's were the repaints, the absence of documentation and being told "dont ask for any," and how these things are suddenly being "unearthed" now while Hasbros are worth a fortune. Ryder or his group told me I was wrong, but decline to give me any reason. It's my gut call.
