Considering that the IC Title has always been considered the “workers belt,” anyone else find it strange that X-Pac never held the belt? He was one of Vince’s most trusted hands when it came to delivering a solid-to-great “WWE style” match’s throughout his stints in the 90s, and was even used by Vince to teach others how to work their style (ex: Jericho).
I’ve never been a huge fan of his but there’s no denying that he was one of the few bright spots in-ring wise for the WWF during ‘98-99. Anyone else surprised he never got a run with the IC Title?

no.
the roster was stacked at the time. when x-pac redebuted in 98 and was getting his biggest pops, the rock was the ic champion. then it was triple h's turn.
when did you want him to get a run with the ic title?

In fall 1999 X-Pac should have been the IC champ when DX reformed as heels.....since they were the dominant heel faction giving them a title monopoly at the time made sense.

It's ridiculous that X Pac didn't get a run when guys like The Godfather and Albert did. no its not. Xpac didnt need the belt to try and get over. He was already getting huge pops. those 2 needed it. The IC belt isnt like the heavyweight belt. It's used to get people over. It's not used the same now though. It's almost put on someone to help legitimize the belt now. like why rollins has it and why hardy and nakamora have/had the us title |

Sadly this was during the Chyna as IC Champ experiment. Yes she was over but her holding the title put it in a standstill from October ‘99 - February ‘00 and overall flopped with them moving it to Jericho pretty fast. Kane helping X-Pac win the IC Title from Jarrett would have made Pac’s heel turn more impactful IMO. Waltman was on the Stone Cold podcast not too long ago and said he turned down a potential feud with Jericho over the IC Title at WM16 that was pitched to him by Vince and Shane. Not sure how much we can believe this as he’s the only one to ever report it but it’s interesting to think about. If this is the case then Angle never wins the IC Title. |

In 1995 X-Pac was set to win the IC Title off Jeff Jarrett on Action Zone. But Pac got injured, so they gave the match to Bob Holly. Bob Holly pinned Jeff Jarrett to win the IC Title, but it was controversial. So the following week, Jarrett beat Holly to win back the IC Title that was 'held up'.
My guess is that if Pac was healthy then, the same type of story line would have went down with Pac winning the IC Title but having it held up and Jarrett winning it back the following week.

Yeah they could have had DX screw her outta the title.....would have been better than founding member Chyna having no association whatsoever with DX when it reformed....I always found that weird.
Man that was a great episode of SD! when DX reformed....that Tag match with Austin & Rock vs NAO was red hot with the crowd.....such a surprise to see DX reforming

Man that was a great episode of SD! when DX reformed....that Tag match with Austin & Rock vs NAO was red hot with the crowd.....such a surprise to see DX reforming Funny that like with most things in 1999 it didn’t make any sense considering they were all feuding less than 6 months earlier. But like the fans in attendance my 9 year old self didn’t care as DX was back and I loved it. What helped make that version of DX fresh to me was that each guy seemed to have evolved since the breakup at WM15 (well, everyone except Road Dogg). HHH was a main eventer, Billy has his Mr. A** gimmick, and X-PAC had his well received run with Kane. It felt fresh when they all rejoined. |

Granted Sean Waltman never held the Intercontinental Championship but I'll let his in-ring work be his real legacy. Easily one of the best performers to have never hold the Intercontinental Championship. While it has nothing to do with his WWF run, I felt him and Eddue Guerrero had a very underrated Ladder Match at nWo Souled Out. Going back to the topic, I am not sure what time frame would have been ideal for him to have a run as the Intercontinental Champion. I have to agree with what cordless2016 in regards to Chyna. I know Chyna was over but her reign held the championship back to some degree. The matches Chyna and Chris Jericho had didn't blow me away. I feel after Ken Shamrock became the Intercontinental Champion, the belt began to lose it's luster and appeal. Looking back, I really hated how the Intercontinental Championship kept on flip-flopping from the Fall of 1998 to about early-2001. |

Considering the likes of The Godfather, Jeff Jarrett, Goldust, D'Lo Brown and even Chyna held the belt, I'd say X-Pac could have definitely had a run with the IC title in 1999 when he was still one of the most over guys in the company. Crazy how the crowd just never forgave him after he turned on Kane. |

he could’ve at some point, but overall the European title worked well for where him and d’lo were at in 98 and by 99 xpac was more of a tag team guy.
