If you had a time machine, and could go back in time and be the president of TNA Wrestling - how far back would you go and why?

2009.
Look at the roster:
Singles: Abyss AJ Styles Kurt Angle Sting Samoa Joe Kevin Nash Jeff Jarrett Booker T Mick Foley Scott Steiner Rhino Matt Morgan Bobby Lashley Raven Desmond Wolfe Christopher Daniels Suicide Eric Young Petey Williams Sonjay Dutt Tomko D'Angelo Dinero Stevie Richards Shaun Davari
Tag Teams: Team 3D MCMG Beer Money VKM Rock 'n' Rave Infection Ink Inc. British Invasion Lethal Consequences LAX
Knockouts: TBP ODB Kong Tara Gail Kim Christy Hemme Taylor Wilde Sarita Roxxi Leveaux Traci Brookes Hamada Raisha Saeed/Alissa Flash Rhaka Khan Sojonour Bolt Jacqueline
It was so hot at the time that Hogan and his cronies saw an opportunity gut it a few months later. If I could go back in time, I'd be running TNA in 2009 and stopping that from happening. Just look at that roster!

Who would have thought that less than 10 years down the line, a company that at one point was better than WWE, would become a shadow of it's former self and be reduced to nothing more than a small indy show?

If i went back with knowledge of the current state of wrestling...
I'd go to 2006 and work from there, and like mentioned above, i'd keep Hogan and his boys as far away from TNA as possible. As the years go on, i'd be signing the names that would go on to be big in NXT and use them in the same or similar way. Undisputed Era, DIY, Black etc... I would've also tried to scoop up the Bullet Club talent and start that faction well before it formed in Japan.
With all this, obviously WWE's landscape would be much different and by today's time, i'd hopefully built TNA up to be worthy competition to WWE.

I feel like the roster was there in 2009, but the booking wasn't. Mick Foley wrestling a cardboard cutout, Victory Road 2009 etc I feel like it was dying before Hogan got in, but then he it made it decline at a faster pace. A real shame, that roster is so good.

I would pick current era. And that’s coming from someone who was ordering their PPVs in 2002. I think it’s an exciting time for Callis and company and that the wrestling industry is far closer to the revolution it needs than when impact was on spike.

I go back to whenever TNA was the hottest and then call the WWE and offer them everything, the tape library, the rings, the brooms, the belts, whatever, all for $5 million bucks and then retire wealthy.

I'd go back to the very beginning so I could get rid of Vice "yo, BRO!" Russo and head Dixie Carter off at the pass. I'd still have Panda Energy get involved -- because let's face it, they were a necessary evil -- I'd keep Dixie as far away from the day-to-day operations as possible. Just let the little rich girl hang around a bunch of wrestlers because that's clearly all she wanted.

Theirs been lots of years where TNA had a very solid roster and should have been able to make a major jump in terms of its popularity and impact on the business but something always seemed to go wrong.
To be different from everyone else I am going to pick a year not from to long ago in 2014.Just after the Hogan era and also the first year without Sting & Styles. In 2014 TNA roster looked like this,
Abyss Austin Aries Bobby Lashley Bobby Roode Bully Ray Daniels Davey Richards Devon EC3 Eric Young Jeff Hardy Kaz Kenny King Kurt Angle Low Ki Magnus Matt Hardy Mr.Anderson MVP Samoa Joe
Lots of talent and a nice mix of TNA homegrown talent, big named stars from the WWE and some nice up and coming talents as well.On a side note really kind of shocking that just 5 years later the only names left are Abyss(who's pretty much a part timer talent and special attraction) & Eddie Edwards.
