was there really a best? To me, it is the worst year in wrestling from '85ish til '02ish. The rest all kinda sucked until about 2012.

One of the top 10 worst years in wrestling history. The best thing about this year was WCW Monday Nitro debuting and taking baby steps for the Monday Night War.

I enjoyed the SSeries that year but yeah other than that and Nitro starting up, 95 was a very forgettable year to me.
That being said, I still from time to time go back and watch stuff from that year because as you humanoids know I'm old school through and through.Even the bad years.

1995 was a mostly bad year for wwe even though Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were putting on great matches. I actually watched NBA basketball more than wrestling in 95.

I think that 1995 has this perception of being a bad year because financially is was a bad year but the in ring work was still solid.

Didn't like RR95, the 1 minute intervals made the rumble match feel and look to jumbled. Plus, a lot of the top names were in matches and not the rumble which didn't help either. The only bright spot about that rumble match was Shawn and Davey. I did like the Bret v Diesel and he Razor v Jarrett matches though. The rest I didn't care for. 1995 was a tough year, Vince was really pushing the gimmicky wrestlers hard that year (Mantaur, Man Mountain Rock, Duke Droese, Sparky Plugg, Henry Godwin, Jean-Pierre Lafitte, Aldo Montoya, the Body Donnas, etc.). 1995 was the year I started watching more WCW than WWF.

I've always loved 1995. And where people say it was a bad year and such, let me remind people of things we did see that year.
Diesel vs. Bret Hart at Royal Rumble in an incredible match! 123 Kid & Bob Holly beating Tatanka & Bam Bam Bigelow to win the vacant Tag Titles in a really fun match! The LT/Bigelow confrontation Razor Ramon vs. Jeff Jarrett feud Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania XI LT vs. Bam Bam Bigelow in an entertaining match at Wrestlemania XI Bret Hart vs. Hakushi feud Owen Hart's first ever Title reign as he and Yokozuna dominated the tag title scene The debut of Hunter Hearst Helmsley Shawn Michaels face turn Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Jarrett for the IC Title at In Your House 2 Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon in a ladder match for the IC Title at SummerSlam British Bulldog heel turn The debut of Goldust Bret Hart vs. Diesel for the WWE Title at Survivor Series Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog for the WWE Title at In Your House: Season's Beatings
So people can crap on the 1995 year all the want, but a lot of things happened that year to help us enjoy the later years of the WWE.

I loved 1995 and 1996.
I was in high school and me and four of my closest friends were huge wrestling fans so it was a huge social aspect for us too. I know that people like to look back and say it was garbage, but I can honestly say that I looked forward to RAW each and every week. That is another thing, 1995 was when here in the UK we actually got RAW. Before this, we just got highlights on shows like WWF Mania.
My favorite part of 1995 was the Survivor Series even to this day it is one of my all time favorite Pay per views that the WWE ever put on. Another thing I loved in 1995 was the return of Marty Jannetty I actually thought he was going to have one hell of a run lol. In all I actually had fun watching all the way through 1995.
As far as the bad the only thing I remember not really liking was that dumb storyline Bret Hart had with The Pirate over his Jacket. Creatively they did not have a clue what to do with Bret Hart in 1995. Which sucks because as far as in ring work goes I would say he was better than everyone (yes even Shawn Michaels) when it came to in ring work in 1995. Not just his PPV matches, but even when he wrestled on RAW he was always consistent.

The only thing that keeps me going back to see anything from 1995 is Bam Bam. I loved him.

def one of the worst years, if not the worst. but i still watched everything and enjoyed things in there. id give an arm and a leg to go back and that be my wrestling instead of what we have today.
best: IYH's started up. LOVED having another event the in between months. kind of like a snme every non big-ppv month. all were pretty good too.
bret hart vs hakushi!
LT vs bigelow. fun angle, got alot of my football fan friends interested in it.
dean douglas! loved that gimmick, giving everyone bad grades, lol.
goldust, hakushi, double J was awesome, and sycho sid came back.
2 cool match ideas: triple threat title match, all belts on the line (champ micheals & champ diesel vs champs yoko/owen) & mixed good guy/bad guy match at survivor series.
worst: rumble entrance time going from 2 mins to 1 minute!
KOTR! two words: SAVIO VEGA! SOOO Boring!
and liked mabel, but of all the stars in wwf and at a time when wcw was heating up to push and headline ppv's was a bit letdown.
issac yankem, manatar, kama (2 taker ppv's wasted on him), waylon mercy, the pirate, skip, and so many more bad characters.

^ you loved Dean Douglas? Shane didn't. As a matter of fact he refuses to sign anything "Dean Douglas". He told me only one person in the world has a Dean Douglas autograph.

1995 was one of the worst years for both WCW and the WWF ( though WCW started to turn it around in the fall). It's no wonder that this was the year ECW started to become a "thing" . That being said, my thoughts :
THE GOOD :
Diesel as World Champion - Despite what Bret says, Diesel was over as Champ. Problem was he didn't have anyone good to work with besides Bret and Shawn.
Bret vs Diesel matches - especially Survivor Series, which was a top 3 match of the year.
Double J - Jarrett really came on strong in 95 and was having some of the best matches on pretty much any show. Continued to elevate the IC Belt much like Shawn, Bret, Perfect, and Razor did before him.
Survivor Series - generally pretty good overall. The best PPV that the WWF put on all year.
Shawn Michaels - again, shined throughout the whole year.
Bret vs Hakushi - EVERY match these 2 had was a 5 star one.
THE BAD:
WrestleMania XI - to me,unquestionably, the worst Mania of all time, barely edging out Mania 27
Razor Ramon - after a stellar 92-94, it felt like he was just treading water in 1995 after losing the IC Belt.
The Million Dollar Corporation - what started off strong in 1994 degenerated into a joke in 1995
Bam Bam Bigelow - see above. His loss to LT hurt him MASSIVELY. And when Diesel desperately needed heels to face, turning him after Mania XI was a bad mistake.
All the crap gimmicks - from TL Hopper to the Goon and everyone in between. This was the year the WWF decided to become a live action cartoon.
Bret vs Jean Pierre LaFitte. Feud over a jacket. Jesus Christ.
Tag Team Division - started going down the crapper big time here. It would stay this way til 1997.

mikey1974, the 1995 PWI 500 was the first issue of that magazine I bought and that was how I first heard about ECW.

Bret was one of the few saving graces of 95 wrestling wise. His matches with Diesel and Hakushi that year were fantastic.
