- Would it have been as electrifying?
- If not, do we still get a Hulk Still Rules run?
- Who does Rock wrestle?
- If Hall, is Rock able to get a good match out of him?
- Does Austin not take his ball and go home shortly thereafter?
- Could the chemistry and fan reaction of Hogan and Rock have been replicated at any other event or venue?
- Given that we still would’ve gotten Hogan/Rock down the road and never got Hogan/Austin, would you trade Rock for Austin in that match and erase one of the greatest moments in wrestling?

Austin and Hogan would not have meshed well.
Rock and Hogan were perfect to compete off each other.
Austin should have been in the main event with Triple H and Jericho for the WWE Title that year. But sadly that year it was more about Triple H vs. Stephanie - with Jericho there to take the fall.

I can just picture a Hogan/Austin match. Hogan hulks up only for Austin to flip em off mid way and stun em. But yeah Rock/Hogan was the better choice looking back. Austin by that point was so banged with his knees and neck and Hogan being near 50 was limited as well. Like hbkbigdaddycool said they just wouldn't of meshed at all. I'm sure the build would've been good but the match not so much.

Yes Probably HHH and Jericho Maybe If by spam you mean leave then it would depend on the writers I’m sure it has been before Oh Hell Yeah!

The RAW where Hulk and Austin were in the handicap tag match and they got a few shots in with each other, it just didn't look good. Hulk could work with just about anybody even with HBK and Jericho, but sometimes styles clashed and this was definitely one of those situations and I agree with Austin not doing the match, but disagree with McMahon in forcing Austin into the match with Hall.

- I think Austin/ Hogan would've had an electrifying feeling, too. - I think Hogan would've eventually turned babyface towards the end of the year anyway. - I think Rock would've wrestled The Undertaker (Bruce revealed that Rock was an option if I'm not mistaken). Rock could've also been added to Jericho/ Triple H. - Austin/ Hogan would've been no great match (from a match quality perspective); but, the spectacle would've been amazing. - I personally would've kept Rock/Hogan- it's too legendary. I would've tried to convince Steve to wrestle Hogan at the Royal Rumble 2003 or WrestleMania XIX

I think this goes down as the biggest missed opportunity in Wrestlemania history

you need to realise the fact that this would have never happened anyways.
Austin did not want to give Hogan the pleasure, I thought about this missed opportunity for years and resented SCSA... then watching his ECW transition... i realised, Hogan NEVER wanted to work with Stunning Steve back in WCW... it was his fault in the first place.
SCSA had every right to deny him a paycheck in return - you didn't help me when I needed it... - mentality - and it is fair IMO
IDK why but i think it was supposed to be the same card with Taker vs Nash 2

Vince had nWo plans as far back as December when meetings were taking place... tentative plan for WM18 was
Austin vs Hogan HHH/Rock vs Hall UT/HHH vs Nash.
HHH vetoed his involvement from the sidelines. UT wanted no part of the angle and insisted He remain heel. This left a VERY reluctant Rock & Austin to carry the can. Basically? the entire episode was shot from the start. Vince wanted "his guys" vs the nWo in a feud the entire way up to Mania but 2 of them didn't want any part of it.
In retrospect? UT vs Flair was gold and I'm glad that happened. HHHs "feud" with Jericho was an absolute flop & anything would have been preferable....it took Jericho years to recover from the vindictive burial. Years.
Austin was clearly the crowds choice for the RR that year too...the air got sucked outta the room when he was eliminated...the shine went off HHH as a face very soon after his return IMO.....
then you had Austin not wanting to work with Hogan....AT ALL. as evidenced by his interactions mostly being with the Outsiders.
Basically the first half of 2002 was a clusterf*ck.

HHH was best friends with Hall and Nash and I never heard of Taker having beef with them either.

UT resented 90% of the WCW roster during the Invasion... He wasn't gonna have much love for the 3 boys in fairness 😂😂

I would be curious if the crowd would have turned on Austin like they did rock? We just had a failed Austin heel run where the crowds just didn’t want to boo him, and he’s back as a face and the crowds are eating him up. Although I think he might have had the sense to go super heel if he worked with Hogan. How cool would it have been if Austin took Hogan’s spot in the nWo as the leader after working with him at Mania? Although it’s kind of just like the wcw heel turn, but it would have been interesting, a lot of things they could have done with a Steve Austin ran nWo, might have been the life line nWo needed then.

JokerFC did you hear that on the Talk is Jericho podcast or is that your opinion? I totally agree it was bad for Jericho... babyface Trips NEVER worked IMO... espceiclaly when he was in office but anti office DX in the late '00's... Do you think they did not repay Austin his dues? after the fact he pretty much saved them? Also what if Nash never got injured what woulda been the plans? maybe a tag match?

I would have far preferred that we got Austin vs Hogan at Wrestlemania 14 after Hogan coming back to the WWF had been rumoured since Nov 97. Pritchard says the plan 100% would’ve been to put the title on Hogan at the rumble, and then Austin/Hogan instead of Austin/HBK. throw Tyson in there and you have the biggest main event of all time.

That's my opinion man....shared by most really. Jericho was the. Muscle for Steph in her feud with Hunter. Both their egos were outta control in 2002. Steps had been for a LONG while imo.
