I’m happy with Goldust. Given the limited molds, that is the best choice out of the few.
The commercial is a disappointment. It looks really low quality (like something they set up somewhere in the PC and show with an available camera). It lacks the lighting qualities of the originals, closeups of the figures, and it was in bad need of some color correction. I’m happy one was done but I hoped for much better.

They def. need to re-watch these and give us something more like it.

My god, these are freaking terrible! This line has just gotten worse and worse and I really regret getting invested in it early on.
I really do not know how people are seeing anything positive here at all, but each to their own. You have no idea how much I wanted this line to be good, I cannot think of a toyline I was rooting for more in the last two decades than this one, but it has been botch after botch with it.
I have said this before, but I get the impression that when this line was pitched and the first maybe 1 or 2 series were being put together that it was a passion project of someone at Mattel and then things changed. I look back to that Pixel Dan interview with the guy at Mattel who said that when he looked at his Hasbro collection he always saw Iron Shiek as a missing piece..... how does anyone look at their Hasbro collection and see a mid 80's Iron Sheik as a missing piece? And that is one of the people behind this line.

This line "is what it is". If you are expecting mini-Elites, you aren't going to get it. If you are expecting tons of variety in tooling, deco and sculpts, you are not going to get it. On the Mattel WWE "Big Board", this is likely looked at in the same fashion as Zombies - all be it with a much more passionate following. I think things like the commercial released today and the eventual inclusion of guys like Diesel are small nods to the Hasbro collectors, but the line as a whole will not be that.
Could I think of 50 other people I'd rather have in the line than Orton? Sure. Are Iron Sheik and the rumored JYD in Series 10 perfect fits? NO.
I appreciate this line. It brought me back into collecting. For me, I'm just happy at this point it is continuing. I hope Mattel continues to figure out ways to serve the niche market that is so hungry for these figs. Partner up with Ringside. Release some online exclusives in smaller runs. Release the "orange card series" Retro style for $40 a pop... My wallet is wide open.

Goldust is great can’t wait for it.
I don’t really get the complaints about these (except I agree they are a little overpriced). This line is probably around 5th on the totem poll and not the singular focus like they were for Hasbro. I mean hell Rick steiner has demolition studs on his crotch piece for lord sake lol.
Though it is the same people that have issues every post so Ivey the feeling they were never going to be happy from the jump.
These things are the first thing I have had interest in collecting since BCAs and I’m having fun with them.

I have been really critical of the Retro line, but count me among those who really like this Goldust. This is the kind of stuff we should be getting every time

Awesome seeing Goldust. 2019 looks like it will be off to a great start with retros.

I don’t understand what those who are disappointed are looking for. What could they do differently on Orton? He has the perfect mold for the RKO, has tats and his black trunks. Does Goldust suck because he has knee pads? Joe looks fine to me. I see a lot of these retros being a lot like what Hasbro would have done. Of course they have had some misses, mostly by reusing molds that don’t fit exactly with the wrestler or poor action/mold decision in general but I mean come on...we have Hasbros again! It won’t last forever so enjoy...

Is it just me or does Goldust look like he is doing ‘The Robot’ and Orton looks like he is about to hit the ‘hype dance’ from Fortnight? I don’t even play Fortnight, but that’s what it’s looks like to me. Might explain some Mattel’s recent decision though - ‘Fortnight’ taken over the world. If they switched-out the Mayhem app for a Fortnite app then they’d really get the line moving (I also don’t play Fortnite either - I assume there’s an app?)SURE y'all don't play Fortnight...

I'm only getting Goldust so far but I know why he looks off to me. Its cause his head sculpt makes him look old and wrinkly. They could have made him a bit less aged.

Orton is a little boring to me but then again I find him boring in real life.
Joe and Goldy look great. Hopefully I’ll be adding them to the collection. REALLY looking forward to Walmart carrying the retro line again.

Even when he's acting "Crazy" or "Unhinged"...still "Boring".

Goldust is probably the best mould to use for him, though it might not be tall enough for Dustin but otherwise I’m happy with it. Good to see it’s the original outfit as a lot of people were calling for that, and the wig accessory is a great step forward for the line. I’d like it if his gloves were moulded on, but the only real issue I have is the face doesn’t look great - it could just be the photo but looks a bit fat, from my memory of 1996 Goldust he didn’t have a double-chin Goldust definitely had a double chin early on in his WWF career, at least in certain poses/angles. I stand corrected then - my memory of him from that time was him being very slender, but clearly that didn't extend to his face

Some people seem to have put Hasbros on this pedestal that the current line will never reach due to nostalgia. Hasbro re-used so many parts and painted in details all the time. What Mattel has been doing isn't anything Hasbro didn't do back in the day.

What Mattel has been doing isn't anything Hasbro didn't do back in the day. True, but that was more towards the end of the hasbro run when sales were down and they had to cut corners. Pretty much, from series 1 thru 5, every wrestler got a unique mold (with the exception of a few; Typhoon was a late replacement but they had a unique mold for Tugboat, Sid reused Hogan 1 models, Model reused Macho 1 molds). I think the main complaints with the Retro line has been the Wrestler's they chose to make, distribution, and reuse of the same molds (also using molds for people with completely different body types; Goldberg/Sting/Triple/Daniel Bryan, Cena/Angle/Sheik/Warrior, Austin/Goldust/Orton, etc). But that's just one man's opinion.
