That match was for the WWF title belt, he won the match by count out which is why he didn't get the title. According to Bruce Prichard, Luger was supposed to win the title at the event but Vince changed the ending because he thought he should have been anointed champion on a bigger stage. So he was also supposed to win at WM10, however, by the time WM10 came around Bret emerged as the better choice so they went with him to win at WM10. |

He's the most overrated wrestler from WCW, and is basically their version of Warrior in terms of talent. At least Warrior had fan support.

I tell you what, go from Hulk Hogan to Lex Luger, right on! I am a huge fan of Lex Luger so I would have to respectfully disagree with Gorilla about being overrated and the WCW version of Warrior. I think both of those honors go to Bill Goldberg: injured guys, couldn't cut a promo, had to have squash matches to hide how green he was, and looked great in an 8x10. It was a pretty good feud if I remember correctly, but then again I was young. Do you mean the 93 rumble when he debut in the WWF or the 92 rumble that Flair won? Either would have been cool. I know he did an interview with Heenan and Monsoon at WM8, not sure if he was out of the WCW at the time of the 92 rumble though. |

Agreed, I think he was tailor-made for this role. Tntil they dropped the title to Hogan, it looked like they were setting up a Bret Hart vs Narcissist match by summer slam, anyone know what there plans were for this? Yeah Hogan happened! The original plan, as far as the rumors go, Hogan wasn't going to wrestle at Mania and so the WWF was going for a "Double Main event" with Bret-Yoko and Luger-Perfect and leading to an eventual match with Luger-Bret. Along the way Hulk agreed to do Mania and plans changed to Hogan getting the belt. From that point there are two rumors that are floated about: The first one is that at King of the Ring Bret and Lex would face each other to get the right to face Hulk Hogan at Summerslam which would have been Hart-Hogan. The other rumor (and not as believable) is that Hogan would have still lost to Yokozuna at King of the Ring but Hogan would answer the challenge to body slam Yoko and the two would have another match at SummerSlam. But what changed all of this? Yep, Hulk Hogan. Hogan and the WWF decided to part ways and Hogan sat out the rest of his contract for 1993 and Vince McMahon changed Lex to the USA gimmick. The change was so sudden that Lex Luger as the Narcissist was being promoted to face Bret Hart in a lumberjack match at a house show a month prior to Summerslam. Here is a video from June 06, 1993 promoting the match between Luger-Hart for a house show that was going to take place July 8th, 1993. So imagine July 4th 1993 you see Lex slam Yoko and you go see this house show that has completely changed with Bret-Luger. |

I find it odd how they never went forward with the Luger/Bret feud that year. It started at WM IX at the brunch when Luger knocked em out and was mentioned on TV afterwards but dropped shortly after that.
They could've easily had these two be the finals in the KOTR tourney that year.

agreed, his Narcissist character to perfect for him and could have had alot of potental. I liked USA luger, but wish he stayed a bad guy.

Yeah, but that one didn't get a proper ending until 1995 because Lawler had legal troubles at the end of 1993 and they replaced him with Shawn in the Survivor Series match. |
