Since turning heel, they’re saying his merchandise sales have been practically non existent.
Now that’s what I call a good heel. People hate you so much they don’t even wanna wear your stuff

And there's the cover for their decision to have the official "Best in the World" Shane McMahon trounce Bryan in a WRESTLING MATCH at the upcoming Wrestlemania...

I feel sorry for the s**t website that thought this was "news" worth posting. Of course his merch sales have dropped. What Daniel Bryan fan is going to buy a YES shirt now? To be honest, even at the height of his popularity, his merch sucked. I don't know why anyone bought it then. His new shirt has only been out for a couple weeks and I doubt "they" know how well that is selling.
Plus, none of this matters. He is doing such a great job as the "New Daniel Bryan", the crowd will be cheering him by the time Mania rolls around...if not sooner.

I bet part of this heel turn (and the subsequent loss in what I imagine was a huge, regular royalty check) is the nice pay bump he got when negotiating his new contract.

This could've been seen coming back when his wyatt family/garbage man figure rotted on shelves

Not a surprise. That's what happens when you suck all of the entertainment factor out of a superstar. Since his heel turn, I've found him to be the most boring superstar to be heavily featured on WWE programming. He's slowed down a lot in-ring, his promos are all about the environment and cheap heel heat, his gear is the blandest you could imagine. There's nothing left of him to engage me as a viewer. I find myself increasingly disinterested in his matches and segments. Why would I buy merchandise for someone that bores me?

He literally said in a promo the other night that he refuses to wear his new Shop shirt because the of material and that it's not thrift. Living the gimmick

Earth shattering news...it's almost as if lost merchandise revenue shares has been a chief factor in just about every top tier, babyface performer's initial hesitance to turn heel in the history of ever.

While everybody else ridicules TC indirectly for posting a discussion topic on a discussion forum, I would like to say I found this revelation interesting, and I thank you for posting about it

I’ve found his heel stuff to be wildly entertaining and his change in style and gear makes total sense given the change in attitude.

I would love to see Bryan come out during the next live SDL to address this. He can say "There are reports that my shirts haven't been selling. Do you know why? Because you all fear vegans. My shirts are made of 100% sustainable products and you'd rather support wasteful wrestlers like AJ Styles." (Since reports still show him feuding with AJ)

Just about every last word of that critique left me saying to myself "Yeah? Kinda the point, isn't it?" The point of sports entertainment is to be boring? I just find this heel version of Daniel Bryan to be incredibly boring. My interpretation of the point of heels is to get the audience to hate them. Not to make the audience bored. And bored is just how I've felt when watching any of Daniel Bryan's promos or matches since the gimmick change. Not a surprise. I'm talking about my personal opinion. You can enjoy the gimmick all you want, and good for you for doing so. I just don't share the same opinion. You know you don't have to try to argue with everyone who doesn't share your exact opinion, right?

It only makes perfect sense for someone who was as invigorating and intriguing to watch as a babyface turn that on its head - in this case, slowing down, becoming dry, bland, or any other adjective that serves the antithesis of what put him over the moon to begin with. If Daniel Bryan kept too many aspects of what endeared him to the crowd to begin with, his heel turn would either be a total bust, or he'd fall victim to the modern throes of being a 'cool heel', where technically, yes, he's 'the bad guy', but he can't illicit a jeer to save his life. Perhaps your boredom with his output translates to indifference, but it would seem, at least for the moment, that the resounding consensus disagrees.

I just can't wait to see what he replaces the WWE Title with. He said he's no longer going to carry around a Title on a leather strap that was made from a skinned cow.

He doesn't wear heel merchandise so it's hardly a surprise.

At least he's not getting death threats like Sgt. Slaughter when he turned anti-American. I assume Bryan isn't getting death threats because surely if he was the dirt sheets would be all over it, right?
