I'm a professional theatre producer with an acting school of aound 130-140 students; I produce content for all of them every week but we only have to actually put it into shows twice per year, so what I'm doing is one millionth of what they do, but I do feel like I'm in an informed position when I say this:
The fewer people involved in writing a show, the better it will be. Between three and five would be a good number to have writing each show, with Vince being one of them.

I know I'll probably eat **** for this but, writing 5 hours of live TV a week is a lot different than what Dusty Rhodes had to do.
But I do agree, they need to cut back on writers and they need to plan months in advance. Here's our endgame, now how do we get there? It's the same thing we've heard Triple H wanted for all the call ups. A clear direction and a path to get there. Figuring things out hours before going live isn't working.
Have it planned out for a few weeks/months in advance. But only a select few know the plans. To help avoid it leaking online. Give everyone that needs it, an individual script the week before they leave RAW or SD. Hold them accountable for their scripts like movie studios do. Give them a week to study it, learn it, practice it. That way if tweaks need to be made, you have days to work on it as opposed to minutes.

What's the point of wanting a career as a wwe writer when Vince will just overwrite what you do?

What's the point of wanting a career as a wwe writer when Vince will just overwrite what you do? True, we're better off not getting paid a WWE salary and just complaining for free online about how we're better than the writers they have.

What's the point of wanting a career as a wwe writer when Vince will just overwrite what you do? It's the exact same thing in Hollywood. A writer has a script but the director can change it.

Its hard because you have a senile old man constantly changing scripts for RAW

The issue I have is that I see too many phrases of “what will Vince think” and not enough of “what will the fans think.” This is the biggest issue with the current WWE IMO.

Until Vince is no longer in the picture, this is the mindset the writers need to work with. Nothing they put to paper is going to be put forth for the consideration of the fans until it passes muster with Vince first.

just watching through 97 on the network and the level of storytelling is just leagues beyond what we’re getting today.
Bret planting seeds of his heel turn as early as January, with him engaging with emerging fan favourite but still jeered Stone Cold, becoming hostile with the referees after his Royal Rumble loss, and letting McMahon know he’s had enough of being screwed around.
more seeds planted with Owen and Bulldog butting heads several times, before the Hart Foundation finally emerges.
I’ve realized that a large amount of the enjoyability in wrestling is when wrestlers get to take the wheel and put themselves 100% into that character, something current WWE doesn’t allow with their prewritten promos. only person to break that mold was CM Punk, and in the end his abbrassiveness kept him from greatness just as much as it helped him achieve it.

And I feel that this is one of the biggest issues with the WWE today. Vince still thinks that farting gimmicks and poop jokes are funny. The fans don’t. Just an example of what’s wrong with today’s product. But you’re right; until he passes on nothing is going to truely change.

Using a system like that will prevent them from ever finding the next Rock or Austin.
