Who the heck is the guy designing the Mattel esque figures for the covers of the comics? (Mod note: It's Adam Riches!) This guy (no disrespect) is designing some of the best looking wrestling figures I've ever seen! I get that they are just renders, but geez! The Bobby Heenan elite torso he did is a masterpiece, right down to the design of the ab crunch. It's a shame, he's hand down designing better looking figures than anybody at Mattel.... see his Kurt Angle!

Wouldn’t say he’s better at designing figures, he’s just good at the art.
A lot more to it that a front facing photo

I think it's easier to design for fantasy instead of what can actually be done.

After you customize figures for a while you get a better idea of what's possible, what shape things need to be for clearance, etc. It helps me understand why the designers might do things a certain way, but it also ticks me off when they do stupid stuff (like the terrible female torso articulation and fat knees). I assume it's because they have to adhere to some kind of safety codes...or whatever.
But anyway, yeah, I've seen those variant covers for other comics and the "figs" can def look frikkin' sweet.
(By the way, that looks like the Samoa Joe torso)

The execution of Heenan's windbreaker is just so much better here. The soft good version we got in the fan central line was too long and baggy in comparison to the real deal. Makes you wonder what we could get of Mattel wasn't the most prude major toy company in terms of creating new torsos.

I think it looks terrible and cheap. I would much rather prefer a modeled shirt/jacket or just paint it on to look better and higher quality. But that's not with this topic is about, just saying.

The very idea of it is just fantastic... coming with parts so you can dress him as a woman, lol. Classic segment.

I know there's a lot more to figure design than a nice looking forward facing drawing, but that look for Bobby is a lot better than the Bobby Heenan figures Mattel has released so far and appears to be pretty achievable to some degree in figure form just using existing parts. I 100 percent prefer molded plastic shirts, jackets, and coats for the outside of the ring personalities (managers, announcers, advocates, etc). The cloth outfit pieces almost never look quite right.

Bill said he didn't want to spend money on new molds for the female lower bodies because he prioritizes other stuff, like new accessories. Ok, fair enough. Maybe we have to make new molds seem worth the investment. MattelDesignTeam Instead of looking at it like "just filling in the bellybutton" on female figs, how about you make new female torsos with sculpted shirt wrinkles? That would fill the belly button as well as give you new female Elite "shirt torsos" to work with. That would work great with the upcoming Elite Ronda for example (it's too late, but whatevs). I've never seen an Elite female fig with a cloth shirt either, so the "shirt torso" would cover that area too.

I'd buy one, I like the old Monday Night Raw logo on the mic. The British Bulldog w/ Winston this guy did a while back looked awesome.

It's a legit toy design.... No, its a photoshop image I really fear for some people if they think this is an actual proto lol. It has no 3D form for a start.
