I feel like flashbacks are becoming fazed out completely. what an odd feeling. Here's my take. Mattel has seemingly let one guy run the entire flashback line (yes, now just elites): Bill. This one guy is very open about the fact that he is an old school wrestling fan (cool...) and that this position is a dream job for him to make products he personally wants in his collection (okay...let's see how this goes). So besides some formalities from WWE, this guy has carte blanche to make whatever goofy design/attire/line-up decisions his lil heart desires (and there have been plenty of them). Whatever the community thinks be damned. The sense of power he got from this position prompted him to join the online community and (hopefully for him) so that he could receive praise about his brilliant decisions. But yeah...that didn't work out exactly the way he would have liked, as he took any criticism very personally (instead of using it as a resource to improve his craft) and basically took his ball and went home. He continued with community-based Q&A (due to the precedent set by Jeremy Padawer at Jakks), but looks miserable doing it and typically provides robotic three-worded responses to the questions he chooses not to censor. Then they tried to do a community meet-n-greet at the Mattel store a couple months ago, and four people showed up. The whole experience has been a massive blow to Bill's fragile ego. So what better way to avoid criticism than to phase out the very products that are criticized. Good job, Mattel. Despite their global reach and operation, this is very small-town, small-business thinking, but then again so is WWE. And we wonder why Bill/Mattel doesn’t come here anymore.... So entitled and informed.

If you really believe what you are saying and want Legends, then get a job as a designer at Mattel and you can make figures of whoever you want.

The Chicken Littles are constantly running around crying to the hilltops that Flashbacks are being phased out. Happens every year since Mattel got the rights. And yet every year, Bill says Flashbacks will always be a part of this line. You cant deny though that they're getting less and less readily available. From having their own line to aprox 2 per elite set to being store exclusives to god knows what they will be now. Another thing to consider is that most people that say "Flashback" arent talking about a 2015 Seth Rollins or an 2008 Edge. While yes they are included in a Flashback line/series the majority of your Flashback collectors are looking from the 80s-90s which those are also getting more scarce.

Sometimes scarce. But, nobody can deny that we have this exact same conversation every year.

True - but it does seem more warranted now though: we've lost the Flashback and Hall Of Fame/Champions lines... and Flashbacks in the main line have become store-exclusive/chase figures, every other series. I do think some of this is due to Mattel already having released most of the FBs/Legends they can - but I'd still like to see different versions of people they can make (off the top of my head: Attitude Era Hardys, '03/'04 Goldberg, ECW Kurt Angle, another ring-attire Razor Ramon etc.)
