What could we have expected for Owen Hart’s future if his accident never happened? Stay in the WWE and fued with some big stars? He was 34 at the time of his death, very young, had a lot of life in him, and was one of the best technical wrestlers of the company’s history. It would be interesting to hear your takes.

i believe he was planning on retiring within a couple years. at least i recall reading that years ago, i could be mistaken

He was looking to leave the wrestling business, so most likely, he only wouldve stayed 2 more years at most.

i believe he was planning on retiring within a couple years. at least i recall reading that years ago, i could be mistaken Owen and Pillman died, Bret had to retire, Davey Boy was in a relationship with his sister in law after divorcing Bret’s sister. What a train wreck in such a short amount of time. |

As others have mentioned, Owen was likely retiring after his contract ran out which I believe expired in either 2000 or 2001. He was amazing at what he did, but Owen merely wrestled to live and provide for his family. Other wrestlers have gone on record talking about how cheap he was on the road when in reality he was just investing in his future so that he could retire early and be home with his wife & kids.
However, even if Owen only wrestled for another year or two, the dream match possibilities are endless. Guys like Jericho, Angle, Benoit, Eddie and Malenko all debuted only months after his passing. Even if he wasn't featured as a top-level talent anymore, I'm sure we would have seen some awesome matches just because of how deep the roster was in 2000.
Another thing to note is that Owen was expected to undergo a character overhaul once the Blue Blazer angle ran its course. It has been confirmed by HHH himself that Owen was to be given "The Game" moniker. Now this doesn't mean that he was going to be getting the main event push that HHH got, just simply that he was originally planned to be given that nickname which would have been interesting.

I think Owen would have continued on in the midcard until he was slowly phased out. The MASSIVE influx of new talent from WCW/ECW in late 99/early 00 alongside Vince pushing younger guys would have spelled the end for Owen....just like it did with Shamrock, Jarrett etc. Owen wouldn't have fared any better. Owen was too good of a wrestler I think to just get lost in sauce. He would have made the perfect guy to pair up with these fresh faces coming into the company to help them cut their teeth and get acclimated with the WWF style. Jericho said that when Vince was really down on him early on, he paired him against X-Pac because, "If you can't work with X-Pac, you can't work." He was another talented veteran who knew the WWF formula and what was expected. I'd like to think though that if he hadn't passed away, Owen would have been the candidate Vince went with to get Jericho on track. That's not meant as a slight to Pac either, just deserved respect for Owen. Every generation could use a few Owen Harts on their roster. |

I did see that he said when he retired early he was thinking about doing around 10 weeks in Japan a year to help motivate him to stay in shape. |

We couldve had those matches in WCW had Owen been released after the Montreal Screwjob along with Bret, Jim the Anvil and Davey Boy like he was supposed to. |

In a perfect world, Owen would have stayed living, Bret wouldn't have gotten injured, nor Davey Boy, and in 2000 Owen would have had Bret, Davey and Neidhart come out and all four go after Triple H, X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn.

What a storyline.... Hart Foundation vs the McMahon Helmsley regime....
If Bret &, Davey hadn't been injured and had returned with Anvil to take them, on it would've been epic.
Don't wanna marginalize Rock here though either.... 🤔

oh man the flack i'm gonna catch...
Owen was great in the ring, no doubt about it. But on the mic and as a character, very average at best. Hence why he was always in tag teams after his feud with bret. He was the main mouth piece with him and bulldog when cornette wasn't around but he didn't say much at all with jarrett or the NOD. even with the foundation, he wasn't good on the mic. He always repeated himself. Watch those in ring promos again. My bet is like a lot of people said, he would have stayed mic card and fizzled out and retired or left for a while.

I could see Bret, Owen, Davey and Neidhart feuding with Benoit, Guerrero, Saturn and Malenko after the DX feud.
The only problem may be is that Bret would probably feel he deserves to be WWE Champion. When in all actuality Bret should be happy he got millions of dollars for the past 3 years, and is now back, where there is no HBK, Nash or Hall in the year 2000, Rock and Austin have enough pull so Bret doesn't get screwed with by Triple H. But I also think that by the year 2000, Triple H would be excited to work with Bret, since Triple H was the man at that time frame, not Bret.
