Mattel took over the license I remember sitting by my computer when 12 struck and Ringside and Mattel debuted Elite Series 1 and Battle Packs and Basics. Seeing that CM Punk and MVP was awesome. And I was worried like most when I thought it was gonna be a giant barbie style figure. Since its nye thought i would see just who remembers the night mattel launched wwe figures.

My first was e16 punk. I had stopped buying when those crappy TTL figs came out. Seeing the cloth shirt and the detailed tattoos made me look further into the line. Seeing the belts Mattel was making sealed my fate. I got e20 punk, e19 hbk, rsc scsa and dm rock within a couple weeks, and boom. Wallet empty.

I was actually pretty unimpressed with the early line-ups and attires chosen, so I missed entire sets early on.

I was upset that Jakks was no longer making them so I arrived late to the party. It was JYD’s Elite fig that got me into Mattel. The LJN JUD was my first wrestling fig I got on Christmas 1985. Since then I’m almost caught up with the regular elite line. I’m only missing Nash 16 & Kane 19. I started at elite 12 though....

I was a big Jakks collector and didn't like the Mattel style. So I decided to quit and sell up. A few years in to Mattela reign I came back to collecting and realised how much better Mattel figures are. Funny how opinion can change.
The Jakks classic superstars line was the first of its kind though with such a long run. Was truly fun to be a part of that since CS3. That said it had some lows as those around will remember the famous Chinese New Year polava.
Mattel seen to be consistently great though and even their fails are much more minor tha Jakks ever were.
Overall I'm glad WWE switched to Mattel but both Jakks and Mattel have a fond place in my heart.

I started right away but continued buying jakks as well. I stoped buying for like 4 years. My first figure was elite 3 hbk.

I had all of Basics series 1 prior to Jan 1 2010, because my TRU put them out the week of Christmas so I had them under my tree. Then New Year’s Day I pick up the Elites, BP and WrestleMania figures between TRU and two Targets.

I went to Kmart on 1/1 around 10am or so I think it was and found the shipper box setup in the middle of one of the aisles and then some other stuff on the pegs in the normal toy aisle. I remember finding all of Elite 1 and then 2-packs series 1 and 2. I believe the Hornswoggle/Finley sets were on the shipper and then the HBK/Jericho 2-pack sets were on the pegs. I definitely remember seeing the Hornswoggle set in the shipper with E1 though because I thought it was a funny set, and the Colons. Punk is still one of the very few figures from the line I've kept MOC. What was one CM Punk Elite figure, and then an EG HBK, quickly turned into an addiction. I remember going into Target at some point after that and asking for them to check for/bring out EG Piper and Jericho and realizing like "oh, holy sh*t. I guess this is a thing I do now." I really had no intention of collecting these but it was just dominos. It was a gateway drug for me, too. It got me into collecting everything from Marvel Legends, Black Series SW, MOTU, Power Rangers, and now I just can't stop.

I started collecting back in 1985 with the LJN figures & AWA Remco. Then Hasbros and then all Jakks lines (also all WCW, ECW, Lucha Libre, some Japan). And then finally Mattel from the very beginning, 9 years ago. Tubs full of figures. Thousands of dollars later.

I worked at Toys R Us 9 years ago, and I was ready for those boxes of Mattel figures to show up. Safe to say, my wallet was abused that day and all these 9 years later.

I loved Jakks figures since the start of the Ruthless Aggression lines, but after seeing the Mattel line, the Jakks bodies seem "Jakked" up. I just wish Mattel had more of the Classic stars that Jakks did.

At first I didn't like the change to Mattel at all and was done with collecting.
Now I have 5-10x more Mattel figures than I ever had Jakks

I've tried to buy at least one new WWE figure on new years eve/new years day since 2010.....last year I bought nothing. And 2018 has been the WORST year for me to find WWE figures at retail. It was pretty much a marvel/dc year only for me. So, to rectify that this year , I just bought out all the Finkel BAF figs at Wally World on clearance. So I'm hoping for a better 2019.

I was heartbroken when Jakks lost the line and decided the only Mattel figures I'd buy were CM Punks. Went to Target (probably hungover, can't remember) on New Years Day, saw Elite 1 Punk and everyone else from the first elite, basic and 2 pack series, and I caved very quickly and bought everything they had. The addiction has had its hold for 9 years and counting.

We first saw an outline of hbk and it looked awful and 99.9% of the basics still are. The elite legends i first purchased at double the cost of a jakks figure. Most of the early leg joints popped off. I probably have 500 or more elites now but i still wish mattel never got the licence. The prices are ridiculous still and anyone who doesnt realize its all crap compared to even tna figs from 10 or 15 years ago doesnt know much at all

I had collected about 1000 Jakks so I decided I wouldn’t be collecting Mattels. Then they showed the prototypes on here and I was very impressed but still didn’t want to start over. Found a lone Elite 1 CM Punk in Target in December 2009 and said well I’ll just get one to see what they’re like. Jan 1 I went into Kmart and they had everything. I filled up a whole buggie with basics 1, wrestlemania heritage, two packs 1&2, and elites 1. I mean a full buggie. I was hooked.

That’s when it started for me. My Toys R us had a big WWE Mattel display. I had no intentions of buying any figs as a grown man. But then I saw WM22 Triple H WM12 HBK and elite 1 Taker and said “I’ll just buy these”. I’m afraid to know how much I’ve spent on figs since.
