Who do you guys think is the greatest star in WWE history? Mine's The Undertaker. The longevity, character work, match quality, and consistency make me say that 'Taker's the best to ever lace a pair up. Multiple classic matches, a consistent character for nearly three decades as well. The fact that 'Taker has been elite for nearly 30 years is remarkable.

You stole my answer. Savage for me, an over the top personality, made money, great interview, great feuds, could have great matches with a many opponents, and could have a five star match. Not many can claim all of these. Austin would definitely be up there, unfortunately for him, right when he was really hitting his stride he broke his neck which really hurt his in-ring wrestling ability after that.

I think I'd have to go with Jericho. He was able to reinvent his character and keep himself fresh throughout each of his runs and constantly put on great matches

Kurt Angle for me. Could go with anyone over vastly different styles.....could be over like rover as a heel or face & great on the mic.
Rey Mysterio Undertaker(both styles) Jericho Benoit(RR03) Austin Cena Eddie Rock HHH Big Show(staggering accomplishment in 02) Lesnar HBK Edge Orton Tag scenarios
the man never failed in any feud he was put into. Ditto for TNA.....outstanding matches with Jarrett, Styles, Joe, McGuiness you name it.

I was thinking Savage too, but his need to have everything choreographed out ahead of time and not really able to call a match in the ring put a little damper on it for me.
Jericho is definitely a solid contender.

Hulk Hogan or John Cena
If we were doing just in ring ability I can see guys like Savage, Steamboat or Jericho being on the list but my argument with those guys is that they were never "THE" guy...they were always "A" guy.
Even someone like The Undertaker who is one of the most iconic characters in wrestling history was never "The" guy.

Greatest all around in my book would be Randy Savage. He had the whole package.
Greatest gimmick hands down goes to Taker. Never again will we see a character have a run like he did.
And to me the GOAT even though its a close race between Bruno and Hogan but in the end I gotta go with Hogan. I know people who have never watched wrestling a day in their life but still know who Hogan is.

Bret Hart he could practically make any feud work well. I'm a huge Bret fan but his matches are very methodical. Here's my top five all round performers: 1. Randy Savage 2. Kurt Angle 3. Shawn Michaels 4. Bret Hart 5. Mick Foley

One thing to note about Savage... He was a ocd case for layout. IMO this eliminates him from my consideration in this discussion.
Just my opinion.

Great shout if we were talking about all time. Since it's wwf/e I personally wouldn't consider him. He was only there in his prime for 18 months....

This all depends on so many things. One being that 90% of adults in 1987 believed the WWF was legit with theatrics. That's a big stat, compare that to 1998, where it was 95% of fans knew it was all a work. So do we divide it?
"Real" Wrestling (80s WWF) - Hulk Hogan - Biggest draw hands down and became part of pop culture, highly charismatic, crazy promos, worked with everyone and yes even with Rick Rude (in the 80s that is, 90s is a different story) was limited because he was big $ but did good in Japan and did take some cool bumps in a few WWF matches like with Big Bossman.
"Work" Wrestling (Post-80s) - The Undertaker. Yeah it would have to be him.
