It'll probably be a fun alternative to places like PWG and boring as ROH, but that's about as far as it'll get. They'll never get on Vincent Kennedy McMahon's level.

While it's likely to not be something I'd be interested in watching, given that I didn't particularly enjoy All In, I have been looking forward to this getting started. If they can build it up to be somewhat WCW 2.0 with that billionaire backing them like Ted Turner did WCW, it sounds like we could be in for an interesting time for the WWE, if this becomes potential competition.

Serious competition might do wwe some good....don’t get me wrong, I love wwe, but 80% of the story’s they are telling aren’t good.... Yes indeed. His monopoly hasnt been a creative festival by any means. With the $$$ Khan can throw around? He may lure a LOT of Vince's guys away....He will need a guide in the business obviously but I'm sure he has that covered.

Yeah, hopefully we get some serious competition for WWE in the coming years.

I'm really excited to see where this goes. I was absolutely blown away by All In, despite not being a fan of the Bucks or the spot heavy indy style. But it was the perfect variety act in terms of in ring product, and the production quality, which has been a major barrier for me getting into ROH, NJPW, and smaller promotions, was through the roof.
Obviously there are still a ton of details up in the air, but this seems like a big win for fans and talent. It'll be interesting to see if any lower card WWE talent make the jump when their deals expire.

Question is: if it's successful does WWE make Mattel change the name of the Elite figures?

I'll tell ya where it goes.... no where!
If Cody, Bucks, Page, Daniels, Sky and Kaz couldn't get ROH wrestling to the promise land of competing with the WWE - while having Lethal, Briscoes, Castle, Taven, Bully Ray and others with them - then I doubt they will compete with their AEW thing they have started up.
AEW is gonna be talked about and hot at first, but it will die out too. There are plenty of indy feds out there to watch like ROH, Impact Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, and more, and this AEW is just another indy company to be with them.

They are having a block party/announcment in Jacksonville Fl on January 8th at 5pm before the Smackdown Taping. Free autographs and swag. I will be there for it. I knew Khan was talking about wrestling, I can’t believe this is real. I wonder if Double or Nothing will be at the TIAA Field?

Its not even will they compete with WWE....they wont, its easily that simple. No random start up is going to be competition to a media giant however it could be a decent alternate to WWE like how TNA use to be.
That being said, until further details are out...if you're a ROH or IMPACT or whatever Indie fed purest & loyalist then you need to be very very worried. AEW is something that has just enough funding to get exclusive contracts from top Indie stars and push something like ROH out of business. Which at that point AEW essentially does what WWE did and starts to kill out the Indies.

Question is: if it's successful does WWE make Mattel change the name of the Elite figures? I think that's a very likely scenario. They have rarely been ones to give free press for other companies.

I think AEW will be real competition to the WWE,but a few years down the road. The reason I say this and believe that AEW will be a real threat unlike TNA is with the Khan family backing it and the talent thats rumored to be on screen and running things behind the scene in Rhodes,Bucks,Jericho & JR.Just from a leadership stated point way better off then TNA has ever been.

I think the biggest guarantee here is that if AEW is for real and will be signing wrestlers to contracts, then in my opinion there just isn’t enough money, fans, and talent to go around and someone will pay the price for that between. ROH, MLW, Impact and countless other smaller indies with an online fingerprint. They won’t all survive, they just won’t.

Really want them to sign some WWE guys to make it interesting. It's gonna be tough to sign any real big named or worth while talent from WWE in the next few years.Sounds like Vince and company are trying to sign their talents to long term multi year deals.Only ones that are rumored to be coming up in the next few months are Styles,Nakamura,Gallows & Anderson.Which I can really only see Anderson & Gallows making the jump.Styles has a family and has stated he plans on retiring in the next few years just don't see him taking the risk and possible cut in pay to jump to a smaller promotion. While Nakamura has been booked like crap in America and could easily see him going back to NJPW and as a way to off set the loses of The Elite talent that will be leaving. If AEW want to make and impact they should really push to sign CM Punk who even being retired for nearly five years could create a ton of buzz.I would even try and rope him back into pro wrestling by at first just offering him to do commentary for the company, having him as the color man along side a good play by play guy could real help the look, feel and credibility of this new company to start.

I'm curious to see what size of arenas they're going to run their weekly show out of. I'm wondering if they plan on touring like WWE or staying generally central like TNA. Either way, I'm excited to see what AEW has to offer. I enjoyed ALL IN for the most part and will definitely give their product a shot.
