I'm going with Pierre. The pirate gimmick encapsulates how lame the WWF was back in those days, but he always impressed me. The guy was on the heavy/chunky side and still pulled off impressive high-flying moves. Also, that run really showed how much stroke the Kliq had back then. If they didn't like you or you rubbed them the wrong way, you were done.
Back to Pierre, his recent career renaissance as PCO is one of the most incredible/bizarre comeback stories in wrestling history. Most wrestlers don't peak in their 50s even though he did just that. Truly remarkable.

I ate up the New Generation Era, but I freaking hated how Bret Hart was reduced to a feud fighting over his stolen jacket with a pirate. If it had been Bret Hart feuding with Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball I would have been all over it. However, Steve the Pirate was a real stand up dude so I could not see him stealing the Hitmans jacket..... oh my vote goes to the Pirate by the way.

Jean Pierre Lafitte
It was during the Spring of 95 in which former Quebecer Pierre would make his way back to the WWF but this time he wasn't a Mountie....He was a pirate. They built him up as a ''descendant'' of real life pirate Jean Lafitte with eye patch and all.Pierre did have a real glass eye so the patch fit.Early on in the run they built em pretty strong by beating up jobbers on Challenge and Superstars with him finishing them off with his finisher the ''cannonball'' which was a senton off the topo rope. For a guy his size he could move no doubt about that. His biggest and only feud during this run was against Bret that Summer stemming from Lafitte stealing Bret's signature jacket. He also would steal the sunglasses from a fan who earlier in the show would receive the prize from the Hitman.
On the September 2nd episode of Superstars that saw Bret Hart face Waylon Mercy, Lafitte would come down and attack his foe which would lead to the DQ.This would set the stage for the big showdown at IYH 3 in Saginaw Michigan in which Bret would pick up the win after tapping out the pirate with the sharpshooter. This was a very good match I though. Both guys meshed well and in the end we got a decent little gem here.I recall in a shoot Bret praising Pierre and his work. Following this feud Pierre really did nothing of note with him leaving the company by November after issues with the Kliq. This stems from refusing to take the fall from Diesel during a house show in Canada. He would make a return to the company briefly in 98 as part of the Quebecers but that's another entry for another time.
Overall... Bad gimmick aside, I didn't mind the feud with Bret considering how lame the basis of it was. The match with Bret at that IYH was very good and well worth checking out IMO.

I never knew about Jean Pierre Lafitte's heat with the Kliq until many years later, but the backstage altercations he had with Diesel were probably far more interesting than anything he or the WWF was doing on TV back in 1995.
