Do you humanoids think the GR has run its course or do you think it should continue? I would love to see more, but all good things eventually have to end. 😟

Do you humanoids think the GR has run its course or do you think it should continue? It's up to you. Maybe rest it until the new year and see if there is still interest.

HerculesHerc would start his journey in the biz in the late 70s.Early in his career here he was known as ''Hercules Hernandez'' where he would wrestle in territories like Texas and Florida. His first success would come in the Central States territory in which he would hold tag gold there on 2 occasions with Dewey Robinson aka the future Missing Link and a TV Title run which he'd have a decent lil run with it.After this he would have short stints in both Japan and JCP with the latter him being apart of the Assassins. From there it was on to Mid-South in which at first he wrestled under a mask once again as''Mr. Wrestling II'' the protege of the real Mr. Wrestling. When he got back to the Herc gimmick he would have a lil tag title run in late 84 with future WWF foe Ted Dibiase with them losing the belts to the RNR Express by years end.It was also during this run in which he would be apart of the heel stable know as ''Devasation inc.'' A stable I feel got lost in time. I enjoyed em during this era From there it was on to a brief but successful return to Florida in which he would become a 2x Heavyweight and also Southern Heavyweight champ but his biggest run of his career was on the horizon.... It was in late 85 in which he would join the WWF. Early on he was managed by Freddy Blassie with his first big match taking place at WM II against Ricky Steamboat in a losing effort. Shortly after he would change managers after Blassie hung up the cane with Slick taking over for a bit but by years end he would have yet another manager but the best one yet.It was here where he would join the Heenan Family. His first major feud was with Billy jerk errr I mean Jack Haynes. The 2 would collide at WM III with the result being a double count out. At some point during this time they dropped the Hernandez from his name. Other than that change he didnt do much of note in 87 after the feud with Haynes. His next big feud would come with the Ultimate Warrior in early 88 after the infamous tug of war with Hercs chain. The feud would climax at WM IV with Warrior getting the W For the remainder of 88 he was just there basically in the heels ranks with him once again not doing much of not but that would soon change. After a loss to Jake Roberts at the first SSlam, he would be sold by Bobby Heenan to Ted Dibiase to be his ''slave'' thus turning babyface. This feud here would last until early 89 in which the $$$ man would prevail in a match on the Main Event. After this he would get back on the right track by defeating Haku at WM V.But like before following this he would be just there on the roster with not much going on.The 2 big matches being a win over Valentine at SSlam and taking apart of the 4x4s at that years SSeries. By 1990 the gimmick was losing a ton of steam. He would be in the final four in that years Rumble however. After getting squashed by Earthquake at WM VI, it was definite time for change and that would come that Summer. It was there where he joined forces with Paul Roma as the two would form ''Power and Glory'' with Slick as their manager(page 24 to see their entry humanoids!) He would leave the WWF in early 92 and with that the Hercules gimmick was done for now. He would bring it back in NJPW in 93 where he would have a little tag title run with Scott Norton aka the Jurassic Powers. His last stint in the biz would come in 95 during the short lived AWF promotion.Who remembers the AWF??!! After stints here and there on the indies he would retire from the ring in 1999. He would sadly pass away in 2004 in his late 40s. Overall...Not the biggest Herc fan but you cant mention names from the 80s and not bring em up.His P n G run will always be my fav. Shame they never got a run with the belts. What are your memories of Hercules? Share em below!

Didn't he go back to WCW for a hot minute as the Super Invader or Super Assassin? I think he might have been managed by Harley Race at the time.
And are the rumors true? Did he have a child with Sunshine from World Class Championship Wrestling?
Great write up. Nice to have these back again.

I was gonna add it in there but figured I stick with his Hercules run. It's a run better forgotten I always heard that and could never find any truth to it.I doubt it in the end And thank you brother for the support. Much appreciated

Did Hercules only wear the light blue trunks as a babyface? He shouldve worn them at WMIV against the Ultimate Warrior

My first memories of him was entering the Rumble 92 and Monsoon mentioning that maybe Herc remembers how Heenan treated Herc after the Mighty One went straight for Flair. I had only just gotten into wrestling at the time and it stuck with me that there was so much history to the promotion that I didn’t know about. (Monsoon also mentioned about Heenan selling Herc down the river but forget what event that was).
A few weeks later I remember Herc v Sid in one of the most staged looking matches I’ve seen. Sid pinned him in like 8 seconds, then Herc got up like he’d done his job and was now going home! (Possibly his last time on tv).
I was watching some Orient express matches a few months back and saw them against Herc and some jobber - I want to say Jim Evans. Turned out to be a pretty cool match with Herc getting beaten up at the end and Roma making the save. I guess this was the start of P&G. Still wish Power and Glory had made a bigger impact. Could have been a great even sided feud with LOD, once they’d finished off Demolition.
Thanks for this one Brain, glad they’re making a comeback.

A few weeks later I remember Herc v Sid in one of the most staged looking matches I’ve seen. Sid pinned him in like 8 seconds, then Herc got up like he’d done his job and was now going home! (Possibly his last time on tv). That was his last night with WWF but he came back later in the night for a battle royal where Gorilla said he should be fresh due to his quick loss earlier. He was eliminated by Hogan, he held on to the rope very hard and some suggested Hogan was put in the position to eliminate him to get back at him for getting up after the Sid match and that he purposely held too tight to the rope. Not sure I believe either but it could be true. He had a long run, slightly over six years but in the more recent WWE days of little competition he'd probably be with them 20 or have gone to TNA and come back. The baby blue tights and theme music freshened him up. He wore black as late as Royal Rumble 89 or possible longer, had a more plodding sounding theme music and didn't seem like the face turn had quite connected. I liked the brown leather outfit he wore in 86, I think he would have come off much cooler he kept that look. Not sure why WWF would go through the time and expense of having someone make such a unique outfit only to can it less than a year later. They also already had a guy with a chain-JYD. He's also one guy who made every PPV during his whole time with them which is impressive given it was six years. Some guys may have made in each but in a shorter amount of time. He almost barely missing Survivor Series 91 as Bully Busick was originally slated (and possibly Barbarian given the video tape box). That probably had to suck for Herc, being a last minute replacement-almost like Scott Casey in 88.

Thats right he wore black still during those first few months as a face
This is the short lived version of his babyface theme. Glad they worked on it

His last few months in the WWF were awkward as hell.He was still using the ''Power'' gimmick and IIRC during those MSG shows at the end there he came out to his old babyface theme

I always thought Hercules was better as a heel, he looked like a threat to everyone. When he was a babyface, he just kind of seemed there, not that important. My favorite time period of his was his Power & Glory days. They started out well, but by early 1991, they lost steam and never recovered. Biggest match of his that I remember was vs. Hulk Hogan on SNME in late 1986, he almost brought Heenan home the gold but didn't get the job done - I guess that's why Heenan sold him to DiBiase. Jesse on the mic was great during that match.
On the figure side of the discussion, is he the biggest name from the WWF period (1983-2002) that hasn't had a figure made by Mattel, especially out of wrestlers from his days with the company (1985-1992)? Besides the obvious ones like Owen who won't be getting figures.
