They were never on the polls before but you're in luck as I got them pegged as one of four teams who will be on the polls for #71

The Berzerker
This big man made his Federation debut in February 91 as The ''Viking''.This didn't last long however due to legal issues and he was named Berzerker soon after with Mr. Fuji becoming his manager. Two of his main traits was yelling out ''HUSS!'' ''Huss!'' and the way he would win matches with him tossing some poor ham n egger over the top to win via countout. He really did nothing of note until SSeries that year in which he teamed with Col. Mustafa,Skinner and Hercules(What a team of gimmicks!) to take on the babyface team of Jim Duggan,Sgt. Slaughter, Tito Santana and Texas Tornado. In the end the faces would clean sweep with Berzerker being the last one eliminated.
In 92, He would enter the Rumble and last for nearly 10 minutes before being eliminated by the Hulkster. The Rumble match was perfect for this guy! He was advertised to face The British Bulldog at WM VIII that April but in the end it was cut due to time constraints. Like I said here in the past no matches should be cut at WRESTLEMANIA!! The biggest feud of his run here happened that Spring as he feuded with The Undertaker. The most infamous incident happened on Superstars in which he tried to impaled the Dead Man with his sword but failed in the end.The feud would end with Taker defeating both Berzerker and Fuji in a handicap match. His last big win would come that Summer on an episode of PTW as he would win a battle royal. Following that he would pretty much go down to the jobber role with him losing to Tatanka at SSlam( a match that didn't air on the actual PPV but on PTW that Fall) and he would fail to win the WWF Title from Bret Hart that November.
By 93 he was on his final legs as he entered the Rumble but didn't last as long as the year prior with him being eliminated by old foe Undertaker. His last appearance came on Raw that February in a battle royal but he was unsuccessful this time around. He would be released shortly after.
Overall...I liked this gimmick. Nice little tribute to Brody as far as the boots and wild behavior are concerned as both guys worked together in the 80s. I'll give out a HUSS HUSS HUSS!!! in honor of the Berzerker!
What are your memories/thoughts of the Berzerker?Share them below!

Pretending a viking exists in 1991 is one of the silliest things the WWF ever came up with, but John Nord was the perfect guy for that role. There were many rumblings of Bruiser Brody going to the WWF, but you can look at the Berserker's run to see how he would have fared. The Brain, I believe Berserker was released because he was Nailz's backup when he confronted and strangled Vince McMahon.

Yeah no way they let Brody be the way he was in the 80s here in the WWF.
As far as Nord's release, that makes the most sense.

I vividly remember seeing a match of his from Madison Square Garden (on the MSG network). He & his opponent (I can't remember who) were outside the ring. He had the opponent leaning against the ring post. Bezerker charged at him with his sword, and the opponent ducked. The sword hit the ring post & the top part of it snapped off & went into the crowd. I'm pretty sure they made him ditch the sword & shield after that.
Overall, John Nord made the gimmick work. But it wasn't really better than his AWA gimmick he had with Scott "Flapjack" Norton as lumberjacks.
Kind of sad to see what's become of him now.
And for poops & giggles, here is the best part of Nord's shoot interview & a damn impressive Dusty Rhodes impersonation.

As dumb as the gimmick is looking back on it, as a kid you believed this guy was legit. Maybe not that he was a Viking, but due to his size, strength and craziness you knew this was one bad and tough dude.
I saw him wrestling The Big Bossman in Glasgow at the 1992 European Rampage and it was one of the highlights of the night for me.
