Looks like Dream hasn’t got a feud going into Takeover so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the Rumble. Hopefully he sticks around in NXT for a few years though and it’s just a one off appearance as I don’t see his gimmick working too well on the main roster. This would be a good way to test the waters though. I'm trying to remember and find where i think i saw it, but i believe the rumour for Takeover is. Velveteen Dream vs Adam Cole

I would like to see the winners of the rumble matches actually be a true surprises. Not whomever the top guys are, and not someone they're really been focusing on lately. Like, how about Curt Hawkins and Liv Morgan winning and create credible good stories for them building to their matches at WrestleMania? The obvious ones who will probably can already have credible good stories going into the event and not need a rumble win, especially not anyone who has already held the titles. I'd really like to see it be truly randomly and make people at home think anyone can really win, and not just the same people who get title shot after title shot on a monthly basis already.

Build a brand new story behind someone who's never held a title.

Personally, I think it should always be a top guy/woman winning the Royal Rumble match. They've tried having lower card guys win the Rumble in the past (Alberto Del Rio is the main example in my mind), and they've always felt like they could have picked a better winner. I agree that they shouldn't go for someone who's already a multi-time World Champion (unless it's to create a unique situation, like Cena getting another shot at the Rock in 2013), but I also think that they should go for someone who's on the cusp of becoming a top star, who is capable of staying a top star. Curt Hawkins most definitely is as far from that as you can get. Alberto Del Rio wasn't that. I don't think Sheamus was the best choice in 2012 either.
I think they just need to strike the right balance. Someone who's already been built up enough to be credible as a top star, but not someone who's already been a top star for years. Alberto Del Rio wasn't credible enough for me in 2011. Randy Orton really didn't need to win it again in 2017.
For this year, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor are the top contenders to win the men's for me. As for the women's, I think that's far more unpredictable, given that they seem to be building towards the Four Horsewomen tag match at WrestleMania, rather than Becky VS Ronda.

There are already 19 confirmed spots in the men's rumble, that won't leave too much space for surprise entrants.

It sucked last year and it’ll suck this year. Seriously, if you go back to last years show. Once Kofi comes out after E and Woods the crowd just didn’t care by then. Sure they popped for the spot with Kofi getting launched back into the ring but that could have been done with just him entering. It’s a minor gripe but I still hate it.

Anyone else convinced they're gonna put the tag titles on Miz and Shane?

Anyone else convinced they're gonna put the tag titles on Miz and Shane? Absolutely hate that idea. But maybe that'll keep the New Daniel Bryan far away from laying down for that conceited, spoiled a** seed of Vince's loins at Mania. So I say go for it.

Can't say I'm following closely at all, but does this card not scream 'we're going to do Charlotte vs Ronda at Wrestlemania as we planned and waste the one people are genuinely interested in'?

I'm almost certain they're building towards the Four Horsewomen match at WrestleMania, rather than a singles match. Ronda knocked both Becky and Charlotte off the ladder at TLC. Ronda randomly challenged Sasha Banks out of nowhere on RAW. With Bayley tagging with Sasha, it would be very easy to get Bayley involved too. It would be a good time to turn Ronda heel, now that she's starting to run out of heels to beat and her title run is starting to get a bit stale, and bringing the rest of the MMA 4HW up to take out the WWE 4HW is a good way to do that.

I love the Royal Rumble. Best event of the year! if WWE just added these Rules & Regs it would be Perfect!
1. Explain the qualification Process. This year a few guys tweeted out that they are entering, is that all it takes? How did Drew Carey get in? My solution is to just say it's an invitation only event given my the McMahon's. Therefore surprises entrants can be maintained.
2. What ever the time domain is between entrants (1min, 90sec, 2min) needs to be consistent across the board. Last few years it has gotten way out of hand with time between entrants ranging from 30sec -3min in the same rumble match! My solution is to have a running clock not just a 10 sec. clock.
3. Superstars have 10 seconds to enter after the clock buzzes for their spot.
4. Superstar who exit the ring other than being eliminated have 10 seconds to reenter (lawler rule).
5. Superstars can maintain legality in the match when one foot hits the floor only if they are in contact with the top rope. (kofi rule) I do enjoy the Kofi spots but they are played out. If opposite feet hit one after the other they are eliminated.
6. No valet's or managers allowed at ringside.
7. Superstars can not be eliminated by a non legal entity (hulk/sid rule). Superstar must reenter within 10 sec of freedom from the nonlegal entity.
8. 1 entance per superstar (mick foley rule) Who would have entered in those spots in '98 if Cactus lasted longer?
9. Show a lot of Refs and Security/lumberjacks to insure rules are followed and time limits are maintained. Have a ref escort the entrant with a 10 sec count, etc.
10. It needs to be very clear that violations of rules will lead to large fines and possible termination from the WWE.
What do you think? "Dude just enjoy the show" I will and always have just trying to make it better.

All those rules aren’t necessary. It’s pro-wrestling, not the Olympic Games.
Half of the WWE’s rules are used to get away with doing different things/setting up moments.

I don't like JBL as a person, and his commentary has certainly dropped over the years (I would say that's more of backstage feeding him stupid lines), but i think he's got a perfect commentary voice. He was one of the main voices i always heard when i started watching in 2007 so i always like to see him commentate.
