I would love to go into detail about memories of Mean Gene but I certainty can't talk about it here. Call the HOTLINE! February 5th 1995 Mean Gene announced that a "former 45-year old heavyweight champion had died" and to call the hotline to find out who implying that it could be Ric Flair (when it was Jerry Blackwell)...estimated earnings from that ONE hotline call was like $50-70k lol.

Don't know what exactly was the point, but Mean Gene not giving a crap during this, was hilarious. This. Plus in the most recent Botchamania, he's doing a live interview with Ernest Miller. Miller ends the segment by telling Gene "How about I sell my foot to your ass?" Both their reactions are hilarious. Whenever he'd interview Sid Vicious, Sid would always cut him off & call him "you bald headed little oaf". Great voice, lots of charisma for an interviewer. He will be missed.

Rest in peace, Mean Gene. Just an absolute legend. I'm sure he and Bobby are already on some whacky adventure getting into all kinds of shenanigans. 🤣

Less a Mean Gene memory, but related nevertheless - as an unabashed Sheik mark, I still pop every time he calls him 'Gene Mean'.
I'd also be remiss to not mention the absolute disgust in his voice when Hogan turned on WCW. To hear him, you'd think even Gene was getting worked.

Not the best quality, but this is another good one. Watching Gene try his hardest to hold back his laughter, and not let his smirking be caught on camera is priceless. I didn't know this until today, but the two of them were good friends, and Gene was actually the best man at Sheik's wedding. That's one thing that I think made him so good, was his ability to put real emotion into the stuff he worked in, when needed. Whether he be the requesting fans to send well wishes to Hogan for the Earthquake attack, or his reaction to Hogan joining the nWo.

I love how he was allowed to hold his ground against the guys he was interviewing. Rest East Mean Gene.

Never will forget the 92 Rumble and of course BATB 96. Gene was such an iconic piece of wrestling history.

I always loved when he would promote the WCW hotline. Just call 1-900-909-9900!
He also made a commercial for Toyota in Australia

Anybody ever try a Mean Gene Burger? I always wanted to try one but sadly they weren't in my area.

My former boss's daughter had an autographed picture of Gene from his restaurant. It read "To Kristi- Bite me! - Mean Gene Okerlund".

He will sadly be missed to me, having grown up with him in WCW & watching a lot of his WWF days either on VHS tapes or on YouTube. I would say that Mean Gene is the Walter Cronkite of pro wrestling. Pure and simple. (Cue the mic drop)

All-time favorite Mean Gene moment was in Ready To Rumble, when he was hammered and asked "Do people think I'm sexy?!"
