I do not hold Benoit responsible for his actions. He was virtually braindead at the time of it happening. Not to get all tinfoil hat conspiracy here But I don't buy what is believed to be the truth. Nobody can actually believe that Sullivan or someone else did it. Benoit clearly did it because his brain was as badly damaged as it was and wasn’t in his right mind. As for why he killed him self afterwards I personally believe he had a moment of clarity and realized what he did and couldn’t live with the grief. Occam's razor...

It's hard to think of Benoit in a positive light anymore. I remember having to get rid of my RA figure back in 2007 after everything went down. It just didn't feel right.

As a wrestler, one of the greatest in-ring technicians ever. He was and still is a favorite of mine to go back and watch. He was such a big part of the wrestling industry as a whole from the mid-90s to 2007 that it’s impossible to completely ignore him. I still enjoy watching his many classics.
As a person, I never knew him so I don’t think myself or any wrestling fan can truely comment on this side of his life. What happened was horrendous but I think there’s more that was going on with Chris and his family than the public was informed of. I’m not using them to excuse what happened, but he was said to have the brain of an 80 year old Alzheimer’s patient due to years of concussions entertaining the fans. He was also one of many guys who abused steroids at the time as well. Again no excuse for what happened but there’s a lot of factors that seem to play into the whole situation.

Professionally one of the greatest talents in the world.
Although I hate what he did, I can't judge him knowing that his brain was practically swiss cheese from repeated head bumps.

I think if it was just Nancy, it'd be easier to accept. It doesn't make it less heinous. It's just hard to comprehend someone killing their own child. It goes against all instincts as a parent. That's why I think something was really wrong with him mentally.

I think if it was just Nancy, it'd be easier to accept. It doesn't make it less heinous. It's just hard to comprehend someone killing their own child. It goes against all instincts as a parent. That's why I think something was really wrong with him mentally. He was screwed up for sure, but still capable of all the things it took to be a wrestler so it's hard to just chalk it up to his brain was a pile of mush. I wish there was some other shooter on the grassy knoll that would exonerate Benoit of any blame, but the most likely scenario is that he killed Nancy in a fit of rage and then realized his son, who had a mental condition of his own, would grow up without a mom while his murderer dad spent the rest of his life in prison. That is when he made the cowardly decision to kill Daniel as well justifying the notion that he'd be "better off." Killing anybody is unforgivable, but murdering your own child is a different level of monster. The recent story about that Chris Watts guy who killed his pregnant wife and two young daughters kind of resurfaced some of those Benoit memories from 2007.
