Somewhere around middle school I realized there isn't much difference between a 12 year old and an adult.
They make the same stupid mistakes. They have the same stupid arguments. They listen to the same crapty pop music. They play the same vapid video games all day long. They defend their stupid beliefs even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. (santa claus, global warming, religion, etc.)
That stunted my growth because there was nothing to look forward to, other than not needing to lock my room's door at night anymore lol

I'm 41 and I collect figures and comics so not entirely sure it is over But then I guess when you have to start paying for this stuff yourself that is a pretty big kick in the pants.

To hear my wife and daughter talk it hasn’t as they call me a 51 year old child all the time.

The moment I learned I was going to die. Was that before you decided you wanted to become a wrestler?😂 It was actually a quote from "The Crow" "my father told me your childhood is over the moment you realize you're going to die."

That is a movie I've always been meaning to check out. Along with Elf. It was on literally 3 times per day for a couple of weeks in the build-up to Christmas. Always seemed to miss it.

When I saw the first series of Jakks figures, confirming the Hasbro days were over Actually it will have been around that time anyway - I was 11 or 12 when that happened in 1996 so it kinda fits. A lot things happened around that age - I upgraded my PC to receive the internet and discovered how much interesting educational material there was online (even back then), the Montreal Screwjob exposed wrestling for what I’d long denied it to be, my parents briefly split shortly afterwards, resulting in me moving out of home and living alone (with financial help from my parents) at 16 for school, etc. The last major milestone was likely at 17 I’d say - I was taking exams at the end of the school year and (whilst I wasn’t stressed or anything about them) I did struggle to sleep one tonight and my thoughts wandered over to what I, being a certain atheist, thought death actually meant. That ruined any chance of sleep that night, and almost every subsequent moment that I couldn’t block-out with exam revision or actually taking the exams was consumed with thoughts of death without the hope of an afterlife. On reflection it’s amazing I did well in the exams as I was very preoccupied with these thoughts and didn’t really manage to get past it until weeks later. No childhood left after such soul-searching I think.

Easily in my top 3 of all time.

It depends on what you mean.
16, when I had my first serious job. Everyone is talking about hanging out or doing things, and I was talking about having to be at work.
But work aside, becoming a father made me realize play time was over. Knowing that I am now responsible for another human being is a major wake up call. My first thoughts every morning are centered solely on how to make things better for my son. Up until my son was born everything I did was so I could have a good time. Now it's all about wanting to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads.
