Also I was talking with a friend about this the other day and I have to agree with what Zack and Curt have said on their pod, that Mattel has kinda dropped the ball with character selection with the Retros. It's all over the place. The Attitude Era Series 2 figs were amazing. But there's random current and retro guys in there and no consistent theme. I'd love to see a lump sum of all current guys or all retro guys or all attitude era guys ... it would be way more easier/fun to get into that way. I was obsessed with Hasbros like I said but I don't really care about the Mattel retros at the moment, which seems crazy for a guy like me but is definitely the case. I think this can be said about Mattel's work overall, and it's one of my bigger gripes with their releases. The Attitude themed wave (which I believe is the only one Bill designed) was some exceptional work. I have no issue with modern wrestlers being made, but everything just feels so scattered Mid 80's throwbacks being scattered in with New Gen and current wrestlers? You might get better groupings if you threw darts at Mattel's roster and hoped for the best. In the main lines, I loved the era themed BAF Flashback basics. It was so cool to go out and come home with five new figures for an era of my collection. I was really looking forward to what I expect were Attitude Era and New Gen waves that we never got. It seems like Mattel continually shoots themselves in the foot when it comes to character/attire selection.

New Day and Savage will have value until they show up somewhere main stream. Maybe Savage and Flair if anything. New Day seems to be readily available online for around or under MSRP. And I could maybe see Undertaker being somewhat scarce down the road if he doesn't get a re release. And Roman is actually fetching quite a bit, so maybe there will be a few come to think of it. Depends on future reissues and intrest in the line overall.

TOTALLY agree... the character selection has been all over the place - I'd much prefer them to be released in themed waves (eg. 80's, New Generation, Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression Era, Current/PG Era). As you said, it would be a lot easier - I'd imagine Mattel would also get a good idea of which figures/era is selling better and what fans want.

I disagree wholeheartedly with the opinion that kids even buy these. These were made to ride on nostalgia with the older crowd and even get some of us with kids to buy them for them as well. But I seriously doubt 6,7,8 year olds (& up) even have the time to look up from their phones and tablets to even look at these retros.

The line appeals to a classic collector who loves Hasbros. A kid may get one here and there but kids are mostly always gonna be into whatever the current “style” of figure is. The retros are fun but its still a line based to hit the Hasbro fan base, so the original figures are always gonna win out when it comes to the aura they hold with longtime collectors
