Should have done Sting vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31. I can't fathom that Undertaker and Sting worked the same event and didn't face each other. Sting/Triple H and Taker/Bray were both not necessary. Same here. Really annoys me that they could have had a match when they were wrestling at the same show.

Cena/Punk is this generations Flair/Hogan. They would have been 2 of the biggest Mania matches ever.

Was it ever explained why Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust didn’t end up happening at WrestleMania XXX?Clearly the rumors were there from the dirtsheets and they dropped the titles at the Rumble, but went with the Stardust character instead. I thought it was definitely happening at WM31 but I don’t remember the rumors for 30. They had the match and did the angle with Dusty at Fastlane 2015 and and worked all of the house shows before and after Mania. It just never happened at Mania. I think Goldust was hurt right after that too and we never got an actual end to the feud. The Fastlane match wasn’t very good. So maybe Vince killed a Mania match on the spot. 30 or 31 makes no difference to me, it’s weird it never happened at Mania. It would have made more sense for WM30 since they had such a hot run together in 2013 and the audience would have been far more invested. They were running on fumes by the time they got to the angle in 2015. Plus, we likely would have avoided Stardust altogether. Kind of a big series of events when you look back on it from 2019 and see where Cody ended up.

Hulk Hogan vs Stone Cold, Wrestlemania 18. Undertaker vs Sting, Wrestlemania 31. John Cena vs Undertaker, Wrestlemania 30. Triple H vs Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania XX. Stone Cold vs Brock Lesnar, Wrestlemania XX, 32. Stone Cold vs Goldberg, Wrestlemania XX.
These were perhaps the mega matches which all probably realistically could have happened had they booked and planned for it as long in advance as they do now. In terms of surprising matches that didn't happen, there's a vast amount of singles matches which despite happening during the Attitude Era, never happened at a Wrestlemania itself, more than likely due to Wrestlemania not being the spectacle that it is now, back then. The likes of Stone Cold vs Undertaker, Undertaker vs The Rock, The Rock vs Triple H etc, were all matches which if were around in this day and age would most likely have been saved for a Wrestlemania, and kept the superstars apart for that very reason.

What are some WrestleMania matches that are you surprised haven't happened? I'm not really talking about dream matches, but ones that could have easily happened but never did? I know there have been permutations of some of these matches, but here are a few I was thinking of today to get this thing started: Cena vs. Randy Orton Cena vs. Edge Cena vs. CM Punk Cena vs. Angle Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels Triple H vs. Ric Flair 'Taker/ Angle 'Taker/ Sting 'Taker/ Hart 'Taker/ Austin 'Taker/Rock 'Taker/ Guerrero 'Taker/ Benoit 'Taker/ Foley Angle/Austin Hogan/Austin Benoit/ Jericho (singles) Orton/ Batista (singles)Bryan/ Punk Edge/ Christian Shawn vs Edge Cena/ Styles They tried that but we forced Bryan in instead.

'Taker/ Angle 'Taker/ Sting 'Taker/ Hart 'Taker/ Austin 'Taker/Rock 'Taker/ Guerrero 'Taker/ Benoit 'Taker/ Foley Angle/Austin Hogan/Austin Benoit/ Jericho (singles) Orton/ Batista (singles)Bryan/ Punk Edge/ Christian Shawn vs Edge Cena/ Styles They tried that but we forced Bryan in instead. I know. But, I’m shocked they didn’t do the match between ‘Mania 21 & XXX (excluding ‘Mania 27, 28, & 29 when Batista was gone)

Bret vs Perfect WM 7? HBK vs Perfect WM 9? Rvd vs Eddie 18? Mankind vs Rock (feud a lot around Wrestlemania)

Other than Cody Rhodes vs Goldust, which was a lower/midcard thing so could've been slotted in one year if there was room on the card, I don't really see the others being surprising that they never happened.
Cena vs. Randy Orton - this wouldn't have been bigger than Cena vs HHH in 2006, or Cena vs HBK in 2007. By the 2008 Mania, we'd already seen Cena vs Orton in singles plenty of times.
Cena vs. Edge - they did it too many times at other PPVs for it to be viable as a singles match most years. Although they could've done it as a singles at Mania 25 without Show, and built it as the final culmination of their years-long rivalry.
Cena vs. CM Punk - by the time CM Punk was a big enough name to face John Cena at WrestleMania, Cena was already locked in with The Rock. After that, Punk was gone.
Cena vs. Angle - they did it too many times in late 05/early 06 for it to be bigger than Cena vs HHH at Mania 22. Angle was gone by the following year. The only time it could've happened was Mania 25, and it wouldn't have worked as well as Cena vs JBL (and HBK vs Angle).
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels - like many of the others on the list, by the time this was possible for Mania, they'd already done it too much for it to be more interesting than other possibilities (like HBK vs Jericho at WM19).
Triple H vs. Ric Flair - only time this could've happened is as Flair's retirement match, and it's not surprising they went with Michaels for that instead of HHH.
