I don’t collect besides retro so pardon my ignorance. What hbk head is that? That head was used on many different figues like Flexforce, Basic & Elite. Just search on eBay for Shawn. Flexforce will be the cheapest, I'm guessing, as that style wasn't thay popular.

Yeah, they re-use this head for him a lot. Even the BAF Commissioner is this head but with a beard I think.
Retro head went right into the trash. No sympy, either. Life goes on. However, I DO have a second figure in package, but I dont have to look at it haha.

The pant details are nice. I still haven’t seen a good picture of the actual head though. Missed opportunity to not to do 95 era Shawn in the blue striped attire. Woulda been perfect

So cool that the Mattel Retro figures can do head swaps with the other Mattel WWE lines

Wonder if there's a 95/96 head that could go on him? Wonder if he would look like that era but in his entrance chaps.

Thinking of trying the recent elite of HBK (Heartbreak Hotel set), taking the head and waist coat and putting them on this retro. Would it work? Or is the other figure too large in comparison for the parts to look ok?

Gonna try it, found the fig w/ the waist coat for a decent price. Trying to figure out the best head though, thinking Rumble 95' elite. Just getting pricey though to fix up a $10 fig lol.

I’m curious about what era this head was meant to represent when they designed it. It was used at the launch of the line for the WM12 Entrance Greats, the two-pack with Jericho, and the Superstar Matchups based on DX 2006. The hairstyle is definitely not accurate for the Jericho feud era, and the face looks way too old for 1996 era.

Seeing this makes me wonder why Mattel don’t just use the existing heads from the regular lines rather than invest time and money in designing fresh heads from scratch - I know the Hasbros are generally regarded as “cartoony”, but if the end result is the Retro HBK head compared to the other lines then it’s not worth it for me. The feeling seems to be that the budget for the line is tight (hence no accessorises up until Goldust), so I’d be down with saving a bit by reusing heads and having some savings to improve designs, or develop new moves or something.
I know some of the Retro customs with other Mattel heads have issues with proportions, but even starting with an existing design and shrinking the dimensions by 10% or something to create new moulds I’d think would be cheaper than designing from scratch. Same with accessorises - like couldn’t they have taken the designs for the medals from the Entrance Greats Kurt Angle and adjusted the size to fit the Retro? Or am I oversimplifying things too much?
