Some may know what I'm talking about. It's that film of dust that develops on some figures whether they are loose, MOC, bagged or whatever. It wipes off and all, but is there any way to actually prevent it from happening? So annoying

At first I thought you were talking about a movie with Rhodes Snr in it. Lol.

I think it has to do with the release chemical put in molds when making the figures. I don't know if it ever stops showing up. There was a problem with this back in the day with the Masters of the Universe Classics.

I had the same issues with the Justice League Unlimited figures. It seems to be a Mattel issue.

McFarlane Simpson's line was ruined by that stuff.
Playmates classic collection TMNT had the same problem too.

I've seen this on a few of my figures. I'm sure it's super toxic.

Its the grade of rubber. The powder is part ofbthe mixture that typically rises after its heat and cure process. However over time this residue will rise from most rubbers. Buna/Nitrile get it the worst. I wish Mattel would switch to a FKM/Viton which lasts a life time.

It's the plastic. The only thing I have heard is rub olive oil on it let it sit for an hour. Then rinse off and dry off.

I tried a blow drier on some DC figures. I don't know if the heat makes it disappear, but it's faster than trying to wipe the dust out of non smooth surfaces. Not sure if it stays away long term. I recently noticed it on some Disney Infinity videogame figures like Falcon, Iron Man, and Donald Duck.

Or maybe it's all that pesticide you keep around your figures. Or maybe it's just Bill... Ask Hank or John Redcorn, they'll know what to do.

i had a motuc triklops that had a nasty white fuzz residue. and it was sealed in the package. so gross. i read lego is developing plant based plastics, which then even if those materials develop odd residues, i'll be less terrified of the toxicity. i struggle with the moral dilemma of collecting action figures all the time because i hate plastic/petroleum products and try to live plastic free otherwise. but i have a corner in the house of a thousand figures. love/hate

I had the same issues with the Justice League Unlimited figures. It seems to be a Mattel issue. If you store your figs in plastic containers? It seems to be worse.....strange but true in my own experience.
