Black and white Yoko is the last 'retail' Hasbro figure I need to complete my collection.
However, the market seems flooded with fakes and customs. To add to the confusion, the paintwork on an actual real original doesn't seem great either from what I can see.
Is there any way to tell if a black and white Yoko is genuine? ie number on back etc
Thanks

without gently scratching some of the white paint off? I guess so. I was thinking more before purchasing.

Is there really no other way? All my figures are loose. So I don't want the extra expense.

Honestly, make sure returns are allowed before purchase. Buy the figure and inspect it when it arrives. If it's a fraud, notify the seller and request a return then mail it back. I'm a buyer and seller on Ebay and I've experienced returns on both ends (not because I was fraudulent though lol), but that's one way.

This is really the first I've heard of this issue. Is it really a common thing? It seems SOOO hard to find customs that are so clean they could be mistaken for a real figure, even in ebay photos. I would almost think it wouldn't be worth the time and effort to fake one. Is it just because it's a simple repaint of the diaper? Skin tone is clearly different too between the 2 figs.

If they are selling other series 11 figures, then you might be good.
But if they aren't selling any other rare figures, then prob a custom.

If you're buying it on eBay, you're covered. You buy it and find out it's fake, just file an INAD and return it.

Have you ever noticed how many MORE black and white Yokos there are compared to other green card figures? Now, maybeee....they produced more Yokos because he was just a repaint (so was Crush of course), but it wreaks of customs and fraud to me. Considering the kind of dishonest behaviour we are sadly seeing in our hobby, as Hasbros seemingly become more and more popular - a simple change of a diaper is easier to do than anything else. It could be a very quick buck for someone. Lots of the white paintwork looks really shoddy on various listings too - but many people put that down to generally shoddy paintwork from Hasbro. That's how they explain it anyway. I did not know about the skin tone, huge thanks for this! If they are selling other series 11 figures, then you might be good. But if they aren't selling any other rare figures, then prob a custom. Yes, I had thought about this. Good call. As mentioned above, that's why I'm so suspicious. So many more 'green card' Yokos than anything else, all being sold on their own. I've been looking for years to get one, I noted one seller in Germany keeps getting them for example. Hmmm. Skin color. Its lighter than thered one. As mentioned above, HUGE thanks for this. I honestly didn't know. Can we get a photo of the two figures under the same lighting, so I can see the difference directly? Would be great if anyone has one. I'm looking at various images now and honestly its hard to tell, it all depends on lighting and angle of the photo. Am I right that the green card is less pink and a darker skin tone? If you're buying it on eBay, you're covered. You buy it and find out it's fake, just file an INAD and return it. True enough. Thanks.

Yoko has always been the cheapest and most common green card figure, FWIW. I have no numbers of course, but it always seemed there were just more of him produced.
And I'm talking all the way back to the 1990s.

Yoko is the last green card I need and for some reason seems to be impossible to find for a decent price!

Yoko is the last green card I need and for some reason seems to be impossible to find for a decent price! From what I've seen, currently, he's probably the cheapest. Then it's Borga/Gunns. Then Adam Bomb. Second most expensive is Crush, with 123 Kid taking the crown. He's still expensive of course. But now, thanks to these boards, I'm a bit more confident in getting a genuine figure, so I'm more likely to pull the trigger soon. As mentioned above, he's my last retail figure too.

I did a quick search and i see nothing that would lean in the direction that the market is flooded with fakes for this item. I didnt even see a listing saying it was a repaint or customized. Im guessing this was just more a personal assumption, and the stress of this being the last figure to complete your set?

I got a MOC Crush for 140, and ludvig for 80. I can't find a Yoko for much less than 200 on ebay.
