so what's your favourite HBK title defence? he certainly had some belters as champ in 96 & 98.....so what's your choice ?
For me it's vs Diesel @ IYH: Good Friends...Better Enemies. Man I LOVE that match and plan on watching it again later. Foleys outing against him runs it close though....
thoughts on your own?

Gonna have to go with the Austin match.
I loved the build up with Mike Tyson being involved. The pull apart they had on raw was immense.
In fairness, the match itself wasn’t the greatest on the list but what it represents makes it the best match for me. One of the most successful changes of the guard in wrestling history.

It's a toss up for me between the casket match at the '98 Royal Rumble and the match against Mankind at IYH: Mind Games, but I gave the edge to the casket match, solely because I sort of remember that one was the first PPV my folks agreed to order for me back in the day, and so it was one of the first defenses I was able to watch as it happened, whereas I didn't see the Mind Games match until well after the fact, and even then I sort of hold the path from Badd Blood to WrestleMania XIV as one of the more memorable on-going angles of the time.

Vs Mankind at Mind Games. Non decisive finish aside the match was still great. Add in the HOT Philly crowd and you got yourself a classic.
I always look at that particular IYH as the WWF turning the corner as far as their product is concerned. Definitely had elements of ''Attitude'' if you will.

I went with Bulldog at KotR, I always liked their matches and I liked the feud at the time. For me, 2nd would be vs. Mankind, 3rd vs. Undertaker, and 4th vs. Diesel - all very good/great matches.

I voted Bulldog IYH May 96. Remember in the build up to that match when Jim Cornette was blasting Shawn Michaels verablly, calling him a fornicator among other things lol.

I vote Mindgames,on account of I went to it with my dad. Great memories. The 1st WWF show at the then CoreStates Center. I remember when that arena opened. Hard to believe its been over 22 years already.

this is a hard choice! in the end, the casket match at RR98 takes it for me.

I went with the British Bulldog at the KOTR shockingly.
You would think that being I am a huge HBK and Diesel fan, that I would go with their Good Friends/Better Enemies match, but the KOTR match has true nostalgia for me.
The Friday before the KOTR show, Jer (Eric Young), our friend Mike, and myself went to our near by city that sold satellite dishes. EY's mom drove us there, and we all put in $360 to buy a satellite dish so we could watch Raw, Nitro, the PPVs, and such.
So we ended up having the King of the Ring be our first PPV we ever ordered to watch. Which had Bulldog vs. HBK for the WWF Title!

First off while I was never a big HBK fan back then and I was definitely a far greater WCW fan I will say WM 14.

Hard to believe its been over 22 years already. Wow yeah,I guess it has. And all of the name changes over those years. My personal favorite was when First Union was the bank, and everyone called it the FU Center.

I really enjoyed seeing Sid take down teddy bear HBK (the character we didn't ask for to begin with) and taking the title away. Was an epic MSG moment of the 90s.

I'm going with HBK vs. Diesel Good Friends Better Enemies
At the time, being a big fan of both, their feud was a bitter pill to swallow for 8 year old me. But it was definitely one of Nash's best matches, aside from his series with Bret Hart. And it was one of the first true "hardcore" matches in WWF at the time, and a preview of the Attitude Era to come.
Honestly, Shawn's reigns and matches with the title from 1996-1998 were pretty spectacular. And as I've heard Mick Foley say before, Shawn was really the glue holding everything together during that time period.
