Apologies if this is common knowledge by now. I recently heard that the Netflix series, "The Toys That Made Us," will have an episode dedicated to wrestling figures in their upcoming third season.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it chronicles popular toy lines from the 80s and 90s. Anybody who grew up in that era will probably enjoy the show simply for the nostalgia ride. In previous seasons, they have discussed Masters of the Universe, Barbie, G.I. Joe and LEGO with other popular lines such as TMNT and Power Rangers coming soon.
Since they seem to focus heavily on that particular timeframe, I'm going to assume that the LJN and Hasbro lines will be heavily featured on the upcoming episode. Do you think this mainstream exposure will breathe renewed interest and cause the current market for these figures to further skyrocket? Hasbro figures have already seen a pretty steep price surge in recent years so I wouldn't be surprised to see it spike even higher after the episode airs.
Any thoughts on the show or if you think it could greatly affect the already tough secondary market of some of these high-demand wrestling lines?

It was indeed known that an episode for wrestling figures was scheduled for the next season. They'll probably speak of Remco, Ljn, Hasbro, Jakks and Mattel. Hopefully Galoob, OSFTM and Toybiz get discussed also.
Of the released 2 seasons, I liked the Star Trek episode the most.
It might flare up some interest, but probably not much.

Possibly. The MWFP is already taking credit for increased interest in Hasbro WWF and Mattel Retros

Don't think Hasbro can increase any more than right now.

Think Hasbro prices have reached a all time high due to Retros and more people collecting them. MWFPhas helped significantly in the growing interest in the line. This will have a knock on effect on prices as there will be a higher demand therefore series 11 and mailaways will be priced high. Although there's always the Japanese sellers for series 11 lol

The show has caused the other toy line prices to sky rocket. GI Joe and MOTU are an a all time high. Wrestling is already super popular and I’m sure this series will help it be a bit more.

it probably will spike the prices a little bit but will go down to where prices are now , its a double edge sword about the MWFP, its cool there putting a spotlight on these figs and the wrestling community but at the same time probably frustrating alot of people too, its more positive then negative how i see it

Like with anything that is “poppin” the hasbro line and bca’s will raise in price. Specifically the mailaways and rarer items.i

I'd say it will - like with video games as an example, if one is featured on AVGN then the prices sky rocket on ebay

What concerned me were some of the tweets by The Toys That Made Us. They posted a custom Kamala Moon as if it were real and another tweet suggested Diesel and Bret Hart were unreleased Tonka Wrestling Buddies.
People look to these documentaries for a form of education on the subject. If they are not properly researching it will just confuse collectors. There's enough ridiculous rumour and uninformed info already out there - we don't need these guys adding to it.

They are peaking because its been almost 30 years since they were made, kids who had them then are now almost 40 I'd estimate from my own experience, near 40 year olds go through a huge nostalgia period of their lives, those with a collectors mentality and some spare cash are picking up some of their childhood toys, I doubt it has anything to do with a netflix docuseries, possibly a bit to do with seeing retros on the pegs

They just referred to them as "plush superstars" which is accurate.

It's the Tonka ad they reference and makes no mention that the Diesel and Bret were totally unrelated and made 4 or 5 years later by a different company.

You're making assumptions to fit your narrative. The tweet is there for anyone to see and my point remains. The first line of the tweet refers to the ad itself and shows the Tonka Buddies. It goes on to reference each one from the set then state that prototypes for Diesel and Bret Hart exist. People are obviously entitled to their own opinion. I just don't think that collectors need any more ambiguous information.

If they're NOT insinuating Wrestling Buddies as we know them had Diesel and Bret prototypes being made, then that's a crazy way to put it.
May as well share an LJN ad and then allude to an Undertaker figure being made.

I just don't think that collectors need any more ambiguous information. You're still making an assumption. This show is all about nostalgia, so of course they're going to use an old commercial people might remember to drum up interest. They never said "TONKA" or their actual product name "WRESTLING BUDDIES" anywhere in the tweet. They said "plush superstars". The Bret and Diesel were just that: plush superstars.
