What was the plan for the Ultimate Maniacs following Survivor Series 1992? Were they going to win the WWF Tag Team Titles at one point? Would we see a Warrior heel turn in 1993 if they decide to split the team? How would the rest of 1992 and 1993 (or even 1994) look if Warrior stayed?

I like the idea of a heel Warrior. He was always a heel to me anyway

I've heard that Warrior was supposed to face Bret at RR93 and Macho at WM9 but when Warrior was fired the plans changed. Not sure how true this is, however, Bret said that he heard that he was wrestling Warrior at the Rumble before Warrior left. I always wondered if they were setting up a tag title run for the Ultimate Maniacs, they seemed to set this up with a match against Money Inc. at SNME, during the match Money Inc, Flair, Perfect, and Razor all attacked Warrior and Macho. Seems likely that after the Maniacs were done with Flair & Razor that they would face Money Inc. However, it also looked like Money Inc. was going to work with the Nasty Boys until they brought back Hogan and Beefcake. Personally, I would have preferred Flair vs. Perfect at RR93 with Bret winning the Rumble, Bret vs. Flair and Ultimate Maniacs vs. Money Inc. at Mania 9 with Bret winning the world title and the maniacs winning the tag titles. I'm not sure if heel Warrior would have worked at that time, he was still way over. Reminds me a lot of the heel run for Austin after WM17 and Sting in 1999, the fans just didn't want to boo either of them and I'm not sure they would have wanted to boo Warrior either.

WrestleMania IX Main Event for The WWF World Tag Team Championship Title Belts (Thanks for taking these pics Fighter Hayabusa) vs. It all started in 87... If the Horsemen are considered the greatest Heel stable of all time, then the Ultimate Mega Maniac Powers would have been the greatest Face faction of all time!! Of course, none of this was in the works in the WWF, but it would have been every positive adjective you can think of.

From what I recall, the plan was him against Bret at the Rumble. I doubt they would've turned em heel but a turn would've been interesting to say the least for the promos alone.

Nah I think it would have gone the route of the "Mega Powers", they'll tag a couple of times but then go back to their regular singles stuff.

One of the WWF magazine one page ads was for the 1993 Royal Rumble and it had Bret and Razor pictures above a bunch of wrestlers, one of whom was Warrior so I think the plan was for the title match to go on as it did but have Warrior as a participant. Maybe, when Bret originally won the belt, Vince had the idea for a Bret/Warrior match at Rumble.

I don't believe it was meant to last long, Randy Savage was taking a backstage roll more and wanted the time off (plus dealing with the divorce).

Even Bret talks about Bret vs. Warrior in 1993, but I still don't see Warrior agreeing to losing to Bret in a WWF Title match.

Since the Ultimate Maniacs was Vince rehashing the Mega Powers right down to the color scheme? I don't think there was going to be long term plans for them to be honest....Interesting to see what would have went down with all of this when Hogan returned in 93....

Even Bret talks about Bret vs. Warrior in 1993, but I still don't see Warrior agreeing to losing to Bret in a WWF Title match. Yeah, Bret is notorious for saying things that aren’t exactly what was said. I could see them discussing the possibility of warrior vs Bret and Bret interrepting that as official plans. Bret also said he was gonna beat warrior clean with sharpshooter at rumble. I don’t see Vince or Warrior on board with that. There was no interaction between them or hints of anything prior to warrior leaving just before survivor series. That poster hints at warrior in rumble not title match. My guess is ultimate maniacs Win at survivor series & both enter rumble and their tag team fizzles away as Yokozuna being the guy Vince would want to beat warrior.
