Just when I thought I could not be any more invested in the story of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, I watched NXT last night. I honestly do not think there has been a better story line in the WWE for the last decade. It has everything! What started out as a tale about revenge has become something else and it is almost like Star Wars where Palpatine corrupts Anakin and then tries to do the same to Luke. Johnny went from being this white hot white knight kind of character to something else.
It is really well done and it is crazy that they have this fantastic story with just an hour of TV time and the two of them are not even featured every week. Reminds me of when I was a kid and I did not need 5 hours of wrestling a week to get me invested in the characters and what they have going on.
The only thing I wonder is where do these guys go from here? If they get called up to the main roster what storyline could they ever do that could match what they have done in NXT?
Anyone else been captivated by this story line and has it played out the way you expected or have you been surprised at the way Johnny Gargano has changed.

It started out fine but then I wasn’t too big on the actual matches and as the feud continued it started to feel stale for me.

It would be really cool for them to reunite and return to their friendship after everything they've been through. Unrealistic, yes, but look at the feuds between Triple H and Shawn Michaels, or Cena and Orton, or Kane and Undertaker, or Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. So at least this would be cool to run its course in NXT before getting called up, and then reignite the feud in the future. I guess that's pretty much what they did with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

I dread the day Ciampa and Gargano get called up to the main roster!

I am absolutely loving it! I would honestly argue that it's the best long-term storyline in WWE history. It's phenomenal storytelling. And just at the point after Takeover: Brooklyn 4 where it hinted at getting stale, they let it fade into the background before bringing it back in a different form. Every single interaction that's happened since the Gargano/Ciampa/Black promo in which Ciampa suggested a Steel Cage match, I've thoroughly enjoyed and never not been totally invested in. I just love it so much.

I think the start of the feud was great, but I wasn't big on their last man standing match. I mean, it was good; but it felt stale and repetitive.

I think it's fan-freaking-tastic. I especially loved how Johnny was so close to shaking Ciampa's hand and Candice ran out to stop him. Just added another level to the story. I don't know who's in charge of this story, but they're nailing it.

The two most complete wrestlers in the entire company put on the best storyline in over a decade? I am truly shocked. Shocked I tell you!

Legitimately the best storyline WWE has done since Jericho vs Michaels in 2008.

Think of your permanent record!!"

The last time I was this gripped by a storyline was HBK vs HHH from 2002 - 2004/05.

Wow really? How long have you been watching wrestling? Started in Jan 2001 and never stopped Wow WWE and wrestling started in 2001? I know I’m coming off as a d bag but it’s a pet peeve of mine when someone says something is their favorite in the history of said thing when there’s no way they’ve seen everything in it history. Don’t take it personal.

I like the storyline though i feel it is getting a little stale now. Plus i think they pulled the trigger on a reunion too early.
I was hoping they'd go through their feud, then go their separate ways for a few years, then have a huge reunion. Similar to DX from 2002 - 2006.
