Dean’s a former WWE Champ. Christian, despite as great as he was, left in 2005 as a midcarder. Ambrose leaving now would also be as a midcarder. WWE doesn’t really have main eventers anymore, outside of Brock Lesnar. It’s been that way for years. Guys will get a few months at the top but they’ll be in the US/IC title mix (if that) just as often. Wyatt, Balor, Reigns, Cena (the last year or two that he was really there), Rollins, Ambrose, Jinder, Bryan, Owens, Braun, and so on. The tiers don’t exist like they used to (and should). Nobody full time on the male roster is really a main event level wrestler the way that Batista, Cena, HHH, HBK and co were in 2005. Jack Swagger was a world champion too. WWE didn’t shut down when he left. If Ambrose goes elsewhere, he’ll get to prove how good he is outside of WWE. But he’s not much of a loss to WWE at this point. Nobody is, except Rousey, Becky and Charlotte. I don’t think Ambrose is on that low of a level of a guy like Swagger. Dean is a guy who’s main evented multiple ppv’s, held multiple championships, and has been involved in some major storylines in the past few years. Not to mention at one point a top merch seller. It’s not like some jabroni joe is leaving the company. This is the biggest full-time departure from the company since Punk left. While he’s not the focal point of the show, he’s a constant main eventer. Also to mention, apparently him and Vince have a really good relationship and Vince isn’t going to let him go without a fight.

Now Meltzer is reporting that Ambrose is a lock for AEW. Because he's friends with Jericho & Cody. So what? He's friends with many others in WWE too, and he's still leaving. And anyway, I highly doubt Ambrose has told anyone that. I would be surprised if he's even that far along yet in the thought process.
But this is the same guy who claimed Jericho's drunken rant calling out Brock for his belly, was just setting up an angle to lure Lesnar to AEW. ![::)](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/rolleyes.gif)

Like, i heard Ambrose wants to take a break after wrestling. Is it true? I dont know, im not friends with Ambrose, nor am i in contact with Ambrose, so I'll wait and see. Wish fans would do more of that instead listening to a supermark like Meltzer with his stupid ass claims, who i wouldnt be surprised if hes under AEWs pay roll.

I agree that the WWE pushes itself as a brand and doesn’t really have stars any longer but Ambrose is far above Swagger if we’re talking credibility-wise. Besides a random 2-month title run Jack was a jobber for years. Ambrose has been one of the most consistently over acts for years. No the WWE won’t close when he leaves but he has enough fans to bring some additional eyes to whatever promotion he signs with.

For Ambrose to turn down 5 years of making a good million plus dollars 💵, he must be really pissed within the company. That's between 5-10 million bucks right there!!
But seriously, I do hope it's a work and it leads to Ambrose feuding with HHH at WM and then with Rollins after WM for the World Title.

The way he was on Raw, just doesn’t look like somebody leaving the company.....looked more like a set up

Do you even actually listen to Meltzer? I’m guessing not since you don’t seem to be a fan of him, and I’m guessing you only see his name appear when he’s said something wrong. Meltzer has uncannily gotten a lot of things right, and most of the things he gets wrong he has no problem with saying things changed and he doesn’t know why. And the people that always make fun of him for saying things like “things changed” don’t understand how often things actually do change. He’s the most honest dirt sheeter there is who sometimes and even often at times gets fed bad info. It’s the nature of reporting on fake wrestling.

Im actually not a fan of any dirtsheet, especially nowadays where you have goofy websites reporting false s*** just to get hits. Has he gotten stuff right? Yes, he got stuff right that a lot of people could have speculated themselves. And the term "things change" is such a cop out excuse which in reality means that he speculated something happening, and tried to report it as news since he knows certain wrestling marks will believe anything he says, and when he gets it wrong, he'll say things change when he should be saying "Yeah i speculated something happening and got it wrong ", but thatd be his opinion, which he tries to sell as fact. Same goes with Alvarez, Wade Keller, Bruce Mitchell, etc. They're all just marks making money off of other marks who'll believe anything they say.

Dean is the 3rd or 4th biggest guy in the company based on star power. If you think this isn't a massive blow to WWE, you don't understand wrestling.

CM Punk was twice the star Ambrose was and the wwe hardly blinked when he left. in fact, we got the hottest storyline in years with Daniel Bryan vs the authority. and this is coming from a CM Punk fan.

Difference is that Cena was still full time, Orton was still full time, Lesnar was around more and a bigger attraction, Batista had just returned, Wyatt was huge, they had a lot of big time players that it wasn’t a huge problem. WWE doesn’t have that right now aside from AJ Styles.

Take away the part timers in Cena and Lesnar, it goes Reigns Orton Rollins The Miz AJ & Ambrose (Even salaries) But them being paid the most shows their worth to the company. Aka star power.

If I go by that then your saying he's a bigger star now then ronda rousey, becky lynch, daniel bryan, or braun strowman. Not buying it. Dean got paid well for his services but he became a small fish in a very large pond character-wise. He can go be a medium sized fish in a medium sized pond in aew
