1992: this was a good and bad year for me. alot of transition going on. the steroid scandal thing ruined alot of plans/storylines. the roster was dwindling, but for a moment there we had prob the strongest top end roster ever for the early days. giving us prob the greatest royal rumble ever. obviously, the big disappointment was no flair/hogan match at mania. such a HUGE missed opportunity. I'd been reading about the debate between these 2 and fantasy matches for like 8 yrs by then in all the pro wrestlin mags, and was so bummed it didnt happen. i was lucky enough to had just started dating a girl in january, who's dad ordered every ppv and recorded them for me too. so that was awesome. had to do a 90 day stint in jail from march thru may (for fighting at a party, people got hurt, i was 19), and i missed wrestlemania. so that was not so awesome. i did however get an entire block of dudes in jail hooked on wrestling as that was my pick for my tv choice time. and most hated it at 1st. ha soon, many couldnt wait each week to see what was gonna happen with warrior and papa shango next, LOL. so yea, good and bad year for me. best: the rumble! what a line up! best rumble ever. wish warrior came back sooner for it tho. also wish piper won it, but glad flair did. sid woulda been cool winner as well mr perfect came back! and as a good guy. my fav wrestler of all time. my fav prime time wrestling was his turn good too piper wins a belt! that was so cool. wish he won rumble as well. both belts in one night woulda been REALLY cool ultimate warrior came back! another major fav of mine tatanka & kona crush (2 of my favs big 1st year). yokozuna debut too flair vs savage/liz, taker/kamala, bossman/nailz, & warrior/shango (for reasons stated above) were all fun fueds ultimate maniacs. cool short lived team, but got to see em vs nasty boys & money inc hart vs piper (best match of the year), hart vs bulldog, warrior vs savage! 3 GREAT good guy/good guy matches that year. and a couple cool heel/heel matches was pretty cool too (martel/micheals, disasters/money inc) wcw: battlebowl lethal lottery 2 was cool. muta won it jake snake debut & fued with sting vader vs koloff fued nwa world tag title tourny steamboat vs rude iron man match (beach blast) wrestlewar 91 (wargames match) sting vs luger (superbrawl 2) sting/muta vs steiners (wcw/njp supershow 2) clash20 4 on 4 tag match worst: no hogan/flair match at wm8! (the big one we never got back then) hogan, sid, warrior, piper, jake, and LOD all leaving. (1st sslam/sseries ever without hogan) survivor series wasnt teams matches, but many singles matches other than hogan, never got a big high profile sid justice matchbefore he left. warrior, taker, earthquake, warlord, all fun matches for sid end of sat nights main event! my fav tv show eva! (REALLY wish it kept going until at least 1994) berzerker! loved him. his move: throw people over top rope to the floor. they build his character great by having him eliminate exactly zero people in the rumble. wasted opportunity there imo. at least 6-7 dudes out by him woulda been sweet wcw: just koloff getting injured and retiring NOTE: taking these over for alexxx btw

WWF
Best
The entire Royal Rumble 92 PPV event
Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair feud
The return of the Ultimate Warrior
Money Inc. winning the Tag Titles
Shawn Michaels turning heel
Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog for the IC Title at SummerSlam
The debut of Razor Ramon
Marty Jannetty return
Bret Hart winning the WWF Title
Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series
Mr. Perfect return to the ring
Worst
The matches constantly changing before Wrestlemania VIII
The steroid scandal (Look at Royal Rumble and then look at Survivor Series, it looks like two completely different wrestling organizations)
Hulk Hogan leaving after Wrestlemania VIII
Roddy Piper leaving after Wrestlemania VIII
The Legion of Doom leaving the WWE
British Bulldog and Ultimate Warrior getting busted for steroids and leaving the WWE
WCW
Best
Jesse Ventura debuting with WCW
Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude feud
The Dangerous Alliance being the top heel faction
Sting vs. Vader
Barry Windham heel turn
Brian Pillman heel turn
Steve Austin World TV Title reign
Shane Douglas and Ricky Steamboat winning the Tag Titles
Bill Watts taking over
Ron Simmons winning the WCW Title
Worst
It's hard to say, I don't really remember there being too much to hate in 1992 for WCW

Great year despite the steroid scandal, though you could see by the end of the year what was to come. Good things I liked about WWF; Royal Rumble, WrestleMania 8, Summer Slam 92, all were good PPV's with some really great matches (mainly the Rumble Match, Bret v Piper, Savage v Flair, Bret v Bulldog, Savage v Warrior). The Jake/Savage feud continued, Savage/Flair feud, Savage/Warrior feud, Piper winning the IC Title, Warrior's return at WM8 (really surprising because there was no internet to spoil it), the Ultimate Maniacs tag team, Bret v Shawn at Survivor Series 92, Mr. Perfect face turn, Razor Ramon debut, Yokozuna debut, Tatanka debut (some of the better talent during the new generation era), the Model Rick Martel v Shawn Michaels at Summer Slam (not a technically great match but those two did a great job with the stipulation of not being able to hit each other in the face, a great gimmick match), and Marty Jannetty's return to re-ignite the feud with Shawn.
Some of the bad things, no Hogan v Flair at Mania 8 (though, I'm not to disappointed because I really liked the Savage/Flair feud and their match at Mania, plus, seeing Savage as champion again was great), a lot of big name stars leaving; Hogan, Piper, Sid, LOD, Bulldog, Warrior, and Flair deciding to leave in late 1992 (would have liked to see Bret chase Flair for the title a little bit then finally beating him at Mania 9, that might have given Bret a better push for his first title run), Bret beating Flair at a non-televised event, Bret Hart not being in the Rumble (would have been nice to have one more big name in the match), the last two Saturday Nights Main Event's, mainly singles matches at the Survivor Series, Anvil getting fired - i would have liked to have seen what he and Owen could have done as the New Foundation, the tag team division starting to go downhill (which lasted pretty much until 1998 or so).
For WCW I don't remember a lot because I didn't order any of the PPV's (because I didn't have cable at the time), I just watch the Saturday morning television show. WCW had a lot of great young talent at this time and a lot of these guys would be a big reason for the resurgence of wrestling during the Monday night wars; Sting, Luger, Steiner Brothers, Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, the Diamond Studd, Vinnie Vegas, DDP, and Ron Simmons. Along with older stars of the past; Jake Roberts, Rick Rude, Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Vader, Nikita Koloff, and the Great Muta. I really liked the Steamboat/Rude feud, the Dangerous Alliance, the Sting/Jake feud, Jesse Ventura coming back to announcing, and the Sting/Vader feud.
All-in-all I think it was a good year, maybe the last year of the Hulk-a-mania boom years, just before the mid 90s when both companies needed a change.

Best: Ric Flair winning the Rumble Bobby Heenan on commentary at the Rumble The Barber Shop angle with the Rockers (although may have been late 91) The rise of Bret Hart Bret v Bulldog Sid Justice destroying jobbers on prime time.
Worst: Konan Crush - Brian Adams’ worst gimmick WBF -pointless distraction for Vince Mr Perfect turning face - a natural born heel The turnover of the Roster. As HBKDaddycool said, it was like a completely different company by the end of the year. The WWF lost too many big names too soon would have been so much better if Hogan, Warrior, Sid, LOD etc. were phased out gradually over the next couple of years.

As some have mentioned, 1992 might be the biggest transition year in the history of the company. The initial roster from January turned over so much that by December it did look like a completely different show altogether.
1993 is one of my favorite years ever for the WWF because it is when I first got introduced to wrestling. Most people probably side with 1992 being a bittersweet year with so many huge names departing, but it depends on the era you cherished most. For anybody who grew up in the late 80s and rode that Hulkamania wave, I'm sure 1992 is almost like the sunset of that boom period. I cut my teeth on the New Generation, so the second half of 1992 is fun to watch as it's almost like the dawn of that new era. Bret was on top, Shawn was making a name for himself as was Tatanka. Big stars for years to come like Yokozuna and Razor Ramon debuted. The Steiners arrived by the end of the year with Lex Luger and a returning Bam Bam Bigelow right behind them. Mr. Perfect made his in-ring return. Of course, 1992 was also the year Doink showed up although he really didn't make an impact until after the new year.
So much change was happening that it made 1992 an exciting year to look back on and revisit.

WWF:
Best of 1992 - Ric Flair winning the WWF title at the Royal Rumble - Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart at WM8 - Return of the Ultimate Warrior - Bret Hart winning the WWF title on a house show/Superstars (kind of crappy it was at a house show sure but it was a shocker at the time) - SummerSlam 1992 - Undertaker face turn - Savage vs. Jake Roberts continuing feud
Worst of 1992 - Steroid/Sexual Harassment scandals - Bret Hart title defenses (ie. Virgil was pushed like it was a huge win) - Hogan leaving (I know people were getting tired of him but he was the biggest draw, there was a big drop in business when he left) - Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts and Sid leaving - Ric Flair's vertigo problems - Randy Savage's marital problems and Liz leaving - Tito Santana becoming more of a jobber than ever before (and this guy was Pat's pick for the strap lol) - Survivor Series 92 (while Mr. Perfect played it well teasing a heel turn again and back to a face, the finish was crap, WWF title not even the main event and the rest of the show was below average)

I should've been clear I meant that the real main event promoted was the tag match.

The tag match probably would have been the last match/main event if Warrior was still there, the PPV had some changes with the firings of Warrior and Davey Boy.

I was really hoping Bret would go over with Bulldog with extending the family feud storyline, but Shawn wasn't exactly an exciting opponent (at the time of course).

Could have been interesting, had Davey still been around, he could have challenged Bret at Survivor Series for the title saying that he beat him at Summer Slam and deserved a World Title shot. Though, Bruce Prichard said that at this time Vince really did not like Face vs Face matches so I'm not sure he would have wanted another one at Survivor Series (Bret said in an interview that he really pushed for it to be him and Davey at the PPV since it was in Wembley and that they would tear the house down). I think Shawn and Bret faced each other because they were feuding after WrestleMania 8 and never got a big match to end the feud (it was interrupted when they chose Wembley for Summer Slam - Bret said that if the site was Washington D.C, which was the other possible location for the event, it would have been him and Shawn for the IC title with Shawn winning in a ladder match). Even though Shawn wasn't quite ready for the main event at this time the match was still very good - the best overall match of the night.

I think Bret would've been better off doing a Survivor Series elimination match or six-man tag, and have Savage and Mr. Perfect with him on his team. It would make so much sense and give Bret a bigger push instead of beating someone he has before when he was IC champ.

Personally, had Flair not gotten vertigo and was still champ at the Survivor Series, I would have preferred Bret be Macho's partner (in place of Warrior after he was fired) and getting the pin on Flair to put him in the WWF title picture. Have Perfect (in Flair & Razor's corner) cost Flair the match causing Flair & Heenan to be angry at Perfect. Maybe have Flair or Heenan slap or hit Perfect to turn him face, have Perfect face Flair at the Rumble for the WWF title, have Bret win the Rumble match, then face Flair at Mania 9 for the title with Bret winning. But that's just me.
