Does this make them official employees, thus subject to merchandise?
I was just thinking the other day how I'd love to see a Gregory Helms Elite. updated headscan with his purple attire, trenchcoat and the Cruiserweight Title. But since nobody cared about that gimmick besides like 10 people, I'd love to see a Hurricane Elite with a cloth cape.
I'd also really like to see Mattel give us a new/better Elite of Finlay. Back when he was active and they had the license they didn't have the right parts so all 3 of the Finlay figures look like Finlay after 6 months of Keto & exercise, plus the headscans were terrible. I'd really love to see a proper Finlay from his WWE run in the green/black attire with the Shillelagh and some other kind of accessory.
Daivari would be cool, although I dunno what he would come with.
I know the direction of the line is what it is and we're just in store for more Seth's, Braun's, Lesnar's, etc. But man I'd love for them to start making some of those mid 00's guys who had a pretty significant impact during the heyday of Ruthless Aggression

I've seen this answered before on another thread, but..
Zack & Curt answered this on the last episode of Major WF Pod. They personally asked Helms about a Hurricane figure. His response to them was, as a producer, he's not under a contract that allows for figures or merchandise.
So I'm gonna say no to Sonjay, Abyss, etc..

I would also favor a Gregory Helms fig over Hurricane.

I saw the “quotes” the producer thing is legit. Triple H talked awhile back in a call that they were gonna be brining more guys on to help with production because of all the content they were producing. He didn’t specifically say overworked but it sounded like it was pretty much a lot of the same people working on all of the stuff. So with NXT, Raw, Smackdown, UK, the network original content they got more people to work on different stuff. So hopefully the feel of everything changes too from show to show.

Maybe we could one day get Helms, Finlay, and/or Kidman but I see zero reason Mattel would ever release Abyss or Sonjay Dutt if they signed with WWE as a trainer or backstage producer. Neither ever appeared in WWE. Why would Mattel release a figure of a TNA lifer as part of a WWE line? Obvious answer: they wouldn't.

They actually asked Kidman about that They did talk about Helms, but that was a discussion of their favorite Hurricane figure. Which was taped before the news of Helms signing as a producer broke I really hope he signed a deal where they can make figures of him. Because any 02-04 Hurricane elite would be amazing

This is the closest we've gotten to a chance at having The Hurricane! Bill, if your still lurking around this forum, we need this elite.

The deals they sign as producers are strictly for that backstage work (and maybe the occasional onscreen appearance). Merch is covered under a Legends deal for retired wrestlers. Active wrestlers have merch language written into their performer contract.
Most producers who had notable in ring careers have been given Legends (merch) deals - Malenko, Road Dogg, Arn Anderson, Mike Rotunda. For whatever reason it seems like Kidman and Finlay either weren't offered a merch deal or didn't sign one.
I think it's a safe bet Helms was offered a merch deal, because he was a pretty good seller throughout the Hurricane gimmick. Jarrett is supposedly working backstage and will also have an on-screen role, which would make him active talent and eligible for merch. Mattel wouldn't make figures of Dutt or Abyss unless they appear in a WWE, similar to how they won't make a bike shorts AJ Styles.

Yeah it’s pretty garbage. Would love a Kidman. I thought when we got Malenko those guys would be fair game but I guess not.

This was answered by Bill a couple years ago well before the major bros had the “inside scoop”. Backstage employees are not always signed to a merch deal. Some are and some aren’t.

HHH knows Vince loves money so maybe he will sign some of the new producers to legends deals, this way they make tshirts and other stuff Vince makes money and we all get our elite Hurricane and Jeff Jarrett figures.

So, I’m guessing....
Short answer: no
Long answer: Not at the moment. But with them being on good terms and working under the WWE umbrella, there’s a little bit better chance than they previously had of getting a figure. But they would have to sign a separate merchandise deal for this to happen.

Neither ever appeared in WWE. Why would Mattel release a figure of a TNA lifer as part of a WWE line? Obvious answer: they wouldn't. True. I would say it would also depend on how big they were at the other promotion. Like, if Sting just signed a Legands deal with WWE, but never wrestled in those 3 matches, instead painted his face for event promotions, meet and greets, and Network contributions, he'd still get those Mattel figures. Dutt and Abyss, not so much. If theres a market with your fanbase and money to be made, they'd come out.
