What's the best way to clean figure parts, WITHOUT messing up the paint jobs, before customizing? I bought some old figs from a kid selling off his collection and they have considerable play wear and accumulated dirt. Just tried soaking some boots, etc. in Goo Gone but it seems to not have done much. Reluctant to use acetone or Goof Off or anything harsher unless I absolutely have to as that stuff can mess up the paint jobs and finishes.

for larger areas line torsos and legs the nail polish remover won't do any damage if you rub it off after wards. Apply it with a q-tip and wipe away with a paper towel
