Did people complaining about this even watch RAW? WWE has made him a combination of Double J and his post-1999 persona. He's using his Double J music and doing the "J-e-double -f" catch phrases, but he's also said SLAP NUTS on WWE TV, and he's worn his 1999-present costume on WWE. I feel like people complaining about this aren't even watching or are trying to make opinions based on stuff they are reading or whatever....if you haven't actually SEEN IT, go watch it before commenting. Second hand opinions are the worst. Yeah OK he was straight up Double J at the Royal Rumble and it was funny, but he's been a hybrid Jeff Jarrett since and WWE had him get the upper hand o Elias and blast him with a guitar on RAW. If they were just trying to troll him, they wouldn't have done that. WWE isn't letting Kurt Angle win any matches either. So wins and losses isn't even an issue we need to talk about. At his age he probably shouldn't be beating younger guys, but he wrestled a fine match. Jeff Jarrett is probably a better and faster wrestler than Kurt Angle right now. Go ahead and criticize his body, I'd love to see what some of you guys look like, and go ahead and try and have abs when you're 51. A lot of you are probably in horrific shape right now while you're YOUNG. Jeff Jarrett is fine. WWE has been using him fine. It is what it is and people need to relax. I actually agree with this. I thought Jarrett looked pretty good for his age. He’s always had a pretty easy (I don’t mean that negatively) ring style. He’s kinda like Lawler and Flair. They have careers that last forever because they don’t go nuts, but they’re smooth and keep it fairly simple and tell a story. Also, I certainly don’t expect to see Jarrett back full time or part time. I’m pretty sure this was a Rumble nostalgia moment that got a good reaction. He happens to still be able to go, so they got a little match out of it and a couple segments. We probably won’t see him again for a while.

considering his contemptuous history with wwe and fall from grace in the last few years, I’m just happy to see double j getting to seal his spot in wrestling history and having a few glory moments before packing it in. I honestly think it’s really great of WWE to do for Jarrett.

I remember it. Quite fondly, even.

I all honesty I believe that the WWE are making a fool of Jarrett with the whole Double J crap. Not only does he look ridiculous but it's not how people remember him. Double J didn't make him a legend his post 1999 work did because that was when Jarrett was at his best. This. His “Don’t Piss Me Off” and “woman hating” gimmick in ‘99 was on fire with the crowd and he seemed to finally be taking the steps towards being a main eventer. His “Slap Nutz” gimmick in WCW was essentially an extension of it, and despite what anyone says, he was really the only reliable heel WCW had for much of 2000. In TNA he did his job as a heel and got the fans to boo him while having solid matches with new and veteran performers. Give us that Jarrett. Not the mid-carder who was presented as more of a joke than a serious threat for years. They’ve gone with a hybrid of his characters but just let him be serious. Give him his ‘99 entrance music (it’ll never happen but I’d love for him to use his TNA theme).

Really it's 2019 nobody want's or cares about Jeff Jarrett. if in 2019 you feel you need double j. maybe your star power isn't all it's made out to be. Or you know, they signed him as a producer and this mini-feud with Elias is just a one-off to get Elias over as a heel again.

I'm glad they have give him his serious look back but the Double J stuff feels like a huge step backwards for him. He returns after 20 years and yet the WWE decides to ignore his success and revert him back to a mid 90's comedy gimmick. I want The Chosen One because that's the real Jarrett.

The guy hasnt been relevant since 1994... So you’re saying he WAS relevant? He had some good buzz with those vignettes in Nashville where he spelled out his name. Other than that, the only time he was entertaining was when he was doing the Double J Double MA Challenge in TNA.

I have an honest question.... who cares what he's wearing? It's a brief storyline that will be over soon.

Given that his entire serious gimmick and career 2000 onwards was based on him.being the top heel, champion and focus of the show, I'm completely ok with him doing the midcard type stuff.

Lmao, well youre dealing with peeps who think Sammy Zayn is out of shape even thougn he has a six pack and can backflip circles around any of us. I guess we shouldnt be surprised to see hyperbole from fans of such an overthetop sport, but it often makes it hard to have a real conversation.

The man has nothing left to prove, this is a nice little victory lap.
He had some incredible matches in his day. JJ vs HBK at In Your House in 95 is a classic. He also had amazing matches with Kurt Angle.
Biggest knock on him is how old fashioned he feels, reaks of a territory era guy. It's like Black and White movies coming out today. Still a great worker, who throws a mean punch.

The guy hasnt been relevant since 1994... I'll agree about his late-90's WWF run(the guy lost to a woman, albeit Chyna, in a "Good Housekeeping" match of all things) , and especially his mid-'90's WCW tenure. Slapnuts indeed.... However, he was a cornerstone of TNA from it's inception until around 2009, and had some decent to good matches with guys like AJ Styles, Christian, Kurt Angle,(which those guys could carry anyone through a match) etc. Though, I guess this being on the WWE thread his TNA days don't count But yeah, other than TNA, I was never impressed by or cared for Jarrett at all. He was one of those guys that could have an OK match given the right opponent, but his "southern-country-music schtick" never really clicked with me. At least we'll always have "With My Baby Tonight". It has some nostalgia value to me anyway..... I'm pretty sure the Good Housekeeping match was a you sendoff before he went to WCW. That was Jarrett's last match with the company until his quasi-feud with Elias.

and it's surprising considering that Double J was caught up in that GFW/Impact Wrestling debacle from before, it's shocking that Jarrett appeared in a WWE ring in this day and age

As long as Jarrett isn't getting cleans victories over anyone, I'm fine with him getting a brief moment in the spotlight.
