Yeah that's definitely a red flag. Also obviously means no shot at getting Brad Dourif to do the voice of Chucky which is a huge blow. Truth. If it's going to be Chucky, it's gotta be Brad. I wonder if they're just going to do a robotic autotune type of voice or if they'll actually have an actor provide the vocals. Apparently Mark Hamill confirmed he'll be doing the voice. It's not the same as Brad obviously but at least they got somebody with credibility for doing a good sinister laugh.

To be honest I stopped caring after Childs Play 2. I'll give em credit for getting Mark Hamill but it wont be the same without Brad.

Yeah, I saw him announce it last night on Twitter. I have to say, this actually makes me want to watch the movie.

I always thought the coolest element to Chucky was that he was CLR's soul. "We gave him the digital blueprint of a serial killer by accident!", doesn't seem quite as cool to me. Not on my priority list of stuff to see, but I'd watch it on Netflix 8 months from now. Usually what happens in a remake is the new crew change some major thematic narrative that worked incredibly well in the original, but it ruins the heart of the story in the remake. Putting the same ingredients in a pan doesn't mean you get the same finished product. You have to know how to mix those ingredients and most remakes don't maintain that kind of artistic integrity. That seems to be all that you need to get a movie green-lighted by studios today. I used to dream as a kid about writing and producing my own movie. All I have to do is just write a Back To The Future reboot with no Doc Brown and switch Marty to a girl who falls riding her silver bike, hits her head and wakes up in the 1980's to become a pop star....only to find out it was all just a dream at the end. Well thankfully, as long as Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale are alive at least, it would never happen, as they apparently had it in their contracts, that they had say in any Back to the Future film projects, and they're against it.

Some things should never be remade, this is one of those things. I'm sure I'll watch it when it hits Hulu or Netflix though.

I'm in the same boat with remakes etc. all being uninspired but I really don't think this looks that bad, considering the fact that the world just doesn't really work in the way it did in the original. A 'smart' piece of technology going haywire has obviously been done before, also, so I don't think there was any reason for this to get made, but the trailer looks entertaining at least.
I love the first three Child's Play movies and am hit or miss with about half the excitement with every one since. I'm excited to see what the limited series brings as the last movie had some pretty cool bizarre elements but they aren't exactly the greatest movies ever made in the first place haha

Saw this movie the other night and it was pretty good!!! The set up was weak but Hamill as "Chucky" was freaking awesome. Good kills, some fun parts, and KILLER TEDDY BEARS!!!!

I haven't seen it yet. I don't think I'll like it after re watching all the recent trailers but I'll still give it a chance.

So I finally saw it. I liked it more than I thought I would. I made the effort to treat it like it's own movie and detached myself from the original series and it helped. It was definitely better than the IT remake.
