I see exactly how this will go .. Sink company again, fire tons of lower level employees and then take giant bonuses for themselves.

Will lowering prices alone help, though?
Moms and dads may feel content buying their toys at Walmart or Target, since they are there for groceries already..? Something we didnt have to really contend with in the 80's. Also, online competition with Amazon.
How is TRU doing in Canada?

I welcome them back. Since they closed it is definitely harder to find figures so I’m all for a comeback.

I worked for TRU, twice actually. Once as a seasonal employee out of high school and then again at the end as a store manager for about a year until the demise.
I can tell you that it was the most mismanaged company I've ever worked for the 2nd time around. If they are going to come back and be relevant they will need some serious change of direction and the fact that they are looking at alot of the same people for executives is not a good sign.

My local store is still empty, I'd love to have it back. I hope they figure out a way to get it right this time.

It would be awesome if it did happen, even though they're going to be significantly smaller. It seems like they're going to try a more hands on approach to get parents to bring their kids in.

Is this just in the US? I'd be happy to see TRU back in the UK.

Something we didnt have to really contend with in the 80's. Also, online competition with Amazon. How is TRU doing in Canada? Toys R Us is still profitable in Canada and Asia. There is really nothing wrong with the business model, it was the US ownership that ruined everything. The current owners are really the creditors that pushed the company to liquidate and wanted to keep the Toys R Us name for their own purposes. I doubt anything comes out of this as they sold all their stores, distribution centers and warehouses and would have to start from the ground up.

I welcome them back. Since they closed it is definitely harder to find figures so I’m all for a comeback. I actually feel the opposite. Since TRU closed I feel the Targets and a few of the Walmart’s around me have really stepped up. Before it was always the same sets sitting which resulted in me order/preordering a lot more from RSC. I’m sure it’s different city to city but if TRU doesn’t come back I’d be ok with that.

My local stores seem to be getting stuff like a week or 2 after ringside when the old days they would get them months after Ringside

There's no feeling greater than walking into TRU and finding a fresh peg loaded with the figure you came for. Lookin' at you NS AJ.

TRU is going to come back in some form sooner or later. The brand has too much name value not to. But that doesn't mean a new company will have anything in common with what made TRU a favorite of collectors. They're basically starting from scratch, but with a household name.
But I would love to see a dedicated toy store again. Target and Walmart are fine for what they are, but the selection TRU offered wasn't even in the same league.
